It's been a big week for the 3DS, with the device celebrating its tenth anniversary. Yep, it's now an entire decade old. Of course, there were a number of amazing games released for it over the years and one of them happens to be HarmoKnight.
The Pokémon developer Game Freak originally released this game locally back in 2013, and today marks the 8th anniversary of its EU and US release. While this anniversary isn't necessarily a big one, what is so special is the fact the game's director James Turner has drawn a picture of the heroes - Tempo and Tappy - to celebrate this occasion.
Turner most recently worked on the Pokémon designs in Sword and Shield and was also the art director of the latest entry in the series. If you've not tried out HarmoKnight yet - it's well worth a look (and listen). This rhythm platformer is still available via the 3DS eShop. It's got all sorts of tunes in it, including some bonus Pokémon stages.
Do you have fond memories of HarmoKnight? Would you like to see Tempo and Tappy make a return one day? Tell us below.

I wish I'd got this game with a My Nintendo discount while that was available because it looks really fun but seems a little bit expensive. Never mind, I'll probably still get it some day.
I Think it would be cool to see Harmoknights and Pocket Card Jocky on switch.
i recently bought Pocket Card Jocky. But, i have yet to play it due to being busy with other games. i will try it out when i'm ready though.
I remember playing that Pokemon level from the demo a ton, I really enjoyed it.
Good game Harmoknight. Picked it up during a sale at one point and really enjoyed it
Remember playing the demo when it game out, seemed like a really fun game then but at 15 euros it was waaay too expensive for younger me.. I'd definitely by Harmoknight 2 if it ever comes out, I'm always in for rhythm games
8 years since the game was released internationally, not in Japan (that had its release in September 2012), even James's tweet says it was the US and EU release.
@Aozz101x I've poured many hours into Pocket Card Jockey. One of 3DS's best and most addictive in my book.
What a great game this was! Would love a sequel on Switch!
Maybe he can insult the fans again just for the occasion.
it was a fun time, i remember playing this as a kid on my cousins 3ds and beating it for her. im thinking of buying it for myself and replying it
James Turner is responsible for some of the worst Pokemon designs ever made.
Liked it so much I got 100% on it. Great game!
This game was great. I've been waiting for a sequel (or even a Switch port).
@Aozz101x Pocket Card Jockey is addictive as heck. Be prepared to lose many hours.
I remember playing the demo on my 3DS. I thought it was a bit expensive for a digital-only game. I did like the tune, "My/Your(?) Bicycle" from Pokemon, despite not being a Pokemon fan.
The cool thing about the 3DS is that the system is popular enough that most games for it probably will see an eventual re-release down the line for other systems. At least, I fully expect Nintendo to retread many of their own titles eventually. Subjectively, and technically, the DS touchscreen, Wii 'motes, & U Gamepad are all very cool ideas, that needed tweaking, as well as not being forced as the main control scheme.
Game was so good. A really original experience for the 3DS.
Why don't 3DS games just go on a permanent sale now that it's in it's twilight years. There's loads I'd buy immediately but not at full retail when some games are 10 years old!
deserves a sequel!!!
@Ogbert - Says the man with a Dillon avatar.
In all seriousness; I think the game may need a premium port first, gauge the interest in the game for the new Switch market. Add some Nintendo songs, maybe a harder difficulty as well.
Just don't want to see another Sushi Striker, all hype and the game comes out is fun-but-bare with a questionable price tag. At least a port would mitigate much dev costs.
@Paraka Dillon deserves a Switch entry too!
