I love how the Switch only gets a few while the 3DS gets ten bazillion discounts.
I was hoping for a Rayman sale to match what I've seen stores doing with the physical version. Oh well, It will come eventually.
Wow, Very Big Deal !
Better than nothing I guess.
Lol, Disgaea 5 will be $20 on BF versus $50 here? And similar rings could be said about the rest. What a joke.
3DS has some good stuff though
@Joeynator3000 Pretty Standard for a Consoles First Year.
All I can say is WHERE ARE MY NINTENDO SWITCH REWARDS!! Yeah I know they're probably waiting for their paid service to go live but to list it as coming soon now for 8 months is ridiculous!
Slim pickens on the Switch sales as majority of those will be cheaper in retail, some by 50%. Better than nothing I guess but both PSN and XBL have some really great BF deals this year. Looks good for those with 3DS though!
There are some surprisingly good deals in here! I’ll pick up Spirit of Justice for sure and I’m considering others.
Yep.. typical Nintendo sale. Absolutely pointless.
Put to shame by MS and Sony
I was expecting SuperBombR's price tag to be a bit lower since I want to move on to digital for this game, but...whatever. I'm biting the bullet with that. 1-2-Switch's discount is still too pricey (knock it down to $10 and then we'll talk).
I'm good for the 3DS and Wii U, so...nothing for me. However, I'd like to add that Mario Sports Superstars is still not worth the discount price, and as much as I personally liked Sticker Star, seeing it discounted without the two Mario & Luigi games on 3DS (Dream Team and Paper Jam) joining in mystifies me (and lol for Bowser's Minions getting discounted).
The only benefit this switch discount give is a laugh.
the switch discounts are so disappointing to the point i actually regret putting money on my account before the deals were announced maybe some third parties will go on sale tomorrow.
Find it odd how Switch doesn't have the Shovel Knight discount Wii U and 3ds have
Demon’s Crest and Breath of Fire marked down on 3DS is a nice surprise. Already have them on Wii U, but may have to double dip.
@Joeynator3000 Maybe cause the 3DS has been on sale ten bazillion years (7), while switch has only been out for 8 months?
Think about it logically. Companies always do this.
I really recommend dragon Ball Fusions for anyone who's a Dragon Ball fan or simply wants a fun RPG game. Many compare it to pokemon since you "catch" characters, but the gameplay is actually really different, moving characters and doing ring outs for more damage. The best part is that you'll have content from Dragon Ball, Z, Super and even GT. The attacks are so well animated that it really does justice to the anime... just without the talking and the uncomfortable 20 minute eye contact they make before attacking.
Those Switch sales just stink! No indie games for sale?!?
Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate - $11.99 (normally $29.99). Now thats a cool discount. Switch discounts are completely underwhelming, its a shame Nintendo...you should be more generous
@EVIL-C
We said! I would also like to add to your comment. With supply and demand you will see many many many more sales when the demand is lower. The 3ds is how old now? They are still flying of shelves in the stores but there is such a saturated market for games. The switch is new and people are still paying full price for games, why would any company discount as many games for their new console that has the library 1/5 the size of the 3ds?! It’s nice with its demand that anything is on sale.
Nintendo needs to check out the PS Store to see how to run a REAL sale. Most of these are the same games that have been on sale before.
Rhythm heaven!
Wow. Nintendo sales are always a joke. They really don't understand this concept well here in the west.
Any information about Nintendo Europe? O_O
The only Switch discount that I would be interested in is the I Am Setsuna one.
@Alcovitch They're a multi-billion yen corporation that has been in business for more than a century. I'm pretty sure they understand the concept of sales.
Why can't the WiiU get some decent deals on first party games. Twilight Princess HD is still $50. MKart8 still $60. As are many other games that are barely selling anymore. I'd happily pay $10-$20 and pickup 5 or 6 games. Exorbitant prices on games for a dead console are absolutely ridiculous.
Funny how the WiiU has most indies games while the Switch has little first party games and NO indies which y'know those games seems more interesting than the first party ones. I can't wait to see the Christmas deals.
Sorry Nintendo, you'll have to knock down 1-2-Switch a lot more than that.
Wow.
At 30 bucks, I'd buy Bomberman. 40 is still a bit much, though.
I'd love to pick up Bomberman R, but seeing as it's more expensive than Persona 5 and Nier Automata on PSN right this minute, I think I'd rather go with those better, more substantial and still cheaper games. I wasn't looking for a 75% or even 50% discount, but 20% is just not enough in this case. Maybe one day it'll come down to a price I can justify - I sure hope so
Na, the $20 Disgaea 5 is the sale to get on Switch and Y's VIII is $26 on VITA. I just also snagged Nioh for 19.99 at BestBuy.
Huge selection of Great games at great prices this year.
I just know that if I buy Axiom Verge, the long awaited retail release for North America will finally actually happen.
I'll keep my $10, even if it means I just buy a used disc for the PS4 someday, in the hopes that the Wii U disc release isn't vaporware like appearances suggest it is. The publisher would be wise to just come right out and say it's not happening, or publish some actual concrete information to reassure people.
Oh and thanks again for the Fatal Frame sale, Nintendo of America. You're the best!
People can call me a hater all they want, but I just got a PS4, and its holiday sale murders this one, at least on the 3DS.
I love Nintendo, but they act like putting Star Fox 64 on sale for 19.99 is them being generous. How about Pokemon? Zelda barring the two oracle games? Fire Emblem?
Games that came out in 2017?(barring third-party titles)?
Let me put this another way. I scored Battlefield 1 and Titanfall 2 on the PS4 with all the content included(Season passes, expansion packs, camos, etc) for 39.99, along with games like Dragon Quest Builders and Rocket League.
I love Nintendo, but barring a handful of times, their sales are always the worst.
Alright, I'm done, so people can feel free to rip me apart for saying something bad about Nintendo.
@Prof_Yoshtonics Great comment. Though not MK8 as it might cut into MK8D sales, but yeah, they should rack up a ton of Wii U digital games before we all unplug them after we finish playing the Zelda BotW DLC. It costs them nothing to sell some of those older games for $10. SM3DW, NSMBU, Pikmin 3. Free money. Pokemon Rumble U for $5, Pokemon is always hot.
3DS list isn't' bad. At least it's long and has a couple fo 1st party games on it.
Switch, well it's the first holiday for a brand new console, so I understand their thinking. Maybe next year.
@Caryslan Na man - that is just reality... PS4 has amazing retail sales and the PSN store has great sales also. I got Nioh for 19.99 earlier today. And AC Origins and SouthPark are 35 dollars right now on PS4.
It be a game feeding frenzy... LOL! Enjoy your PS4.
@Caryslan PS4 game sales are killing me. I just bought 3 games a few weeks ago B2G1 free, and they are on sale cheaper now even after that discount. H:ZD and U:LL are really cheap considering they are 2017 games. I may not buy GoW, Spiderman, Days Gone or anything else next year until BF. Which Nintendo is probably trying to avoid, people like me waiting for sales on Switch games.
It does make Nintendo look really bad, but it may make financial sense. Time will tell.
@Spoony_Tech hear, hear!
Please put some effort into our sale Nintendo of Europe! Nothing's yelling "buy me" on the PSN or XBLA Black Friday Sales, so my wallet could be yours for the taking.....
I Am Setsuna is at a very nice price. But alas, I will playing Xenoblade Chronicles very, very soon...
As many have noted, this isn't much of a sale. But I picked up Axiom Verge on Wii U (the definitive version, mind you), plus Blaster Master 0 on 3DS. Good nuff
@Atariboy I asked Mr. Happ about this yesterday on his blog. He said again that a Wii U physical release is coming. Fingers crossed. http://www.axiomverge.com/blog/axiom-verge-retail-launch#comment-3627370420
If anyone looking. I just got Skylander Switch for my little nephew for 29.99 at ToysrUs.
https://www.toysrus.com/product?productId=119435666
@Spoony_Tech "coming soon now for 8 months is ridiculous"
Well Pikmin 4 has been "nearly complete" since summer 2015 so...
DeNA had 5 games due before March '17, I think they had 2 then - Miitomo and SMR. Maybe 3 w/ FEH. AC:PC was 8 months later.
https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2015/07/dena_executive_confirms_plans_for_five_nintendo_smart_device_games_in_five_genres
Even the lame My Nintnedo got delayed a year. Need I go on?
https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2015/10/talking_point_nintendos_delays_with_my_nintendo_and_miitomo_are_disappointing_but_not_disastrous
I am happy though, found out today I finally got my 60 gold coins for the Mario code that came w/ my console. Took them 3 weeks, but better late than never. Maybe sometime in the next 12 months I'll have reason to use them, my 2,000 other coins just expire 300 every month.
Sweet, some of these are kind of good. I tend to kind of hate Nintendo's sales and I still question the logic of offering sales on the games that are still more expensive than getting a physical copy, but there's more good than usual here in my opinion.
Damn, the Switch Halloween sale was better than this. I regret not getting Shovel Knight and The Mummy Demastered when I had the chance.
I recommend picking up FAST and Runner2. Great prices for great games.
Something, something, switch sales.
Something, something, cynical comment.
Breath of fire and gargoyle quest games? Oh, you're mine.
@roy130390 Hmm. I'll give it a shot.
This Switch list sucks to be honest where as Fifa18 will be $27 dollars on black friday which is inticing to buy I hope their are more sales on cyber Monday cause I do like physical copy's more then digital.
@rjejr In a similar situation to yourself with points expiring before there are any Switch relevant offers available. I did email Nintendo to ask when we might get some offers to spend our coins on and whether they might freeze expiration until then. The response was not very helpful...
Sales on Nintendo consoles are poor as ever, I see. Although some of those 3DS discounts aren't bad.
No matter. I don't need to be tempted by games that are selling at a steep discount and ignore newer games I'd really prefer to play more.
Would have considered the Ace Attorney games, but I’m still holding out for a complete collection on Switch some day. Would have gotten Axiom if it was the Switch version. Oh well.
I highly recommend Runner 2 at this price if you haven’t played it (I’m sure most have). Although you can get it free through My Nintendo...
Maybe some new VC on the 3ds tomorrow will make up for the lack of decent sales.
I hope some of these make their way to Europe, especially the Rhythm Paradise 50% off.
Street Fighter II on Switch will still be $40 😣
Too bad that Axiom Verge sale isn't on the Switch. Guess I'll fire up the Wii U again and give that game a go between now and XC2.
Hmm...I might finally pick up Steamworld Dig on 3DS at that price.
Damn...just bought two digital copies of Lego Ninjago Movie Game for my kids. Coulda saved $40. The rest I have or aren’t interested in for Switch
@Joeynator3000 the switch is only six months old. The 3ds is over six years old.
Wasn't expecting much for the Switch, it's a new System, but they could offer more for the older Systems. Poor as usual.
@stevejcrow "The response was not very helpful..."
You got a response?
@Spoony_Tech Yep, and by that time more than half of our points will have expired.
@niner I don't see your comment. Could you quote his reply?
@rjejr Don't get too excited:
"Thank you for contacting our Customer Support Team regarding My Nintendo.
We regret to inform you that Nintendo has no official announcement about your query regarding when Nintendo Switch offers will be added to My Nintendo, at this time."
@JimmySpades
Then why do their sales suck? This isn't the first time.
They usually dont have much on sale or the discounts are laughable.
Every year its the same with Nintendo.
They are a multi billion yen company that doesnt understand integrated voice chat, proper online features & horrible friend code system, either.
Having a lot of money doesnt mean you do everything right. Wii U.
I love Nintendo but they are stingy af...
Everyone's complaining about this and every Nintendo sale and rightly so.
I spend 150 pounds on 3 retail switch games and reward my self with a Wii u game that cost 3.59p from my Nintendo.
Although gunman Clive is a good game
Long live region free, except the North American eShop won't take my credit card OR my European Paypal account. So what's the point? Meanwhile in Europe Puyo Puyo Tetris is still €39.99... roughly $47 instead of $24.99.
@Yorumi Remember the Wii days? I believe Sega ran a sale on some Genesis games once, and that was literally the only sale the Wii Shop ever had.
@Kafei2006 I do recall a couple years ago in the JPN 3DS eShop, Puyo Puyo Tetris (2014, was the 2017 western release an upgraded "R" version, I think?) was listed at full price, and by that time they delisted the 2011 PP game (which had a physical budget release by that point) to make people buy the newer one at full price (yet oddly the older game demo version was still available).
@NinNin Yeah sure, here's what he said. The link I added scrolls down to the comment but it takes a while so I don't blame you for not seeing it.
I asked: "How will [the Wii U physical release] be sold if not in stores?"
He said: "Badlands hasn't announced their partner yet... I believe when they lock in a date then they will announce with a big fanfare since it's a popular outlet."
@JimmySpades If we are going to credit the current execs at Nintendo with a century worth of combined knowledge then we can do the same for consumers. Now how many years would you say consumers have existed?
@niner Thanks. That's nice.
Guess I'll be trying the Castlevania series for the first time.
@Joeynator3000 a lot of old stuff honestly. I do feel 3ds is phased out. I mean who hasn't played shovel Knight or gunman Clive by now. There are a couple new things, but I thought mighty gunvolt burst, or the latest Kirby game may have been a good idea. Ah well.
@Alcovitch Whether or not a sale "sucks" is judged by whether or not it served its purpose. That purpose is increasing revenue. If slight discounts would achieve that then it is deep discounts that would "suck," for they would represent lost revenue.
@Crono1973 False equivalence. You aren't a professional consumer who has a business degree in consumption and was hired by a major corporation for your expertise.
@JimmySpades Wait, if execs were hired for their expertise, what does that have to do with how long Nintendo has been in business. Also, unless you are rich and can afford to waste money, we are all professional consumers as we are required to put a value on the things corporations want to sell us and shop around for the best prices.
@Yorumi Resisting the devaluation of games and seeing that developers receive fair compensation for their work is actually a good thing. Bundles, Steam sales, and Appstore pricing may be good for consumers, but they're terrible for producers, meaning they're terrible for the market as a whole.
@Crono1973 When a corporation has been around as long as Nintendo has, it means they've established a stable corporate culture that is able to provide for its own continuity, which means that their long-term approach is successful. That approach will include finding people who will continue to carry it out. I think you are also overestimating how good people are at consuming. Unlike Nintendo people don't have stock valuations to let them know when they are performing poorly.
@JimmySpades When consumers in this thread are overwhelmingly saying that Nintendo sucks at sales there is no reason for you to claim Nintendo knows best. After all, the point of a sale is to convince consumers to buy something they wouldn't buy at full price.
Now let me ask you, do you think Valve sucks at sales?
@Crono1973 86 comments from random people on the Internet is not better evidence of expertise than a century of business. So there's no reason to claim Nintendo doesn't know best.
@JimmySpades Do you think Nintendo or Valve are smarter about sales?
@Crono1973 Considering that I don't have access to the sales data of either corporation, I am incapable of offering an answer to your question.
@JimmySpades If you don't have sales data from Nintendo, how can you claim that they know what they are doing in regards to sales?
probably just gonna get I Am Setsuna. everything else I either have or is still a little pricey
@Spoony_Tech Don't hold your breath. Iirc, the site said that gold points only last for 6months?, I believe
I might pick up 1 2 switch for the kids at $30. Not too bad really.
@foodmetaphors I was going to get I Am Setsuna at launch, but I bought both the limited edition of Breath of the Wild and all the amiibo for it, and I just couldn't justify buying a second game, especially given how long BotW would take. When it went on sale a few months ago I bought it, and it was absolutely worth it. It would have been worth it at full price at launch.
@Crono1973 A century of being in business is pretty good evidence of being good at business. I don't think I've been unclear on this point.
@Yorumi The biggest publishers aren't the ones hurt by the current status of the gaming market; smaller publishers and independent developers struggling to get by are. Being concerned for them is hardly corporate Kool-Aid. Also, I won't point out that you misspelled the brand name, but I will point out that using brand names as ordinary words is exactly the kind of behavior corporations want; Kraft just got free advertising from you.
I'll grab PW:AA - Spirit of Justice, but that's it. Trying to save money...
@JimmySpades Your argument seems to be that since Nintendo has been in business for a century, they can't be wrong and that's your whole argument since you have no data to back you up.
I am adding our game "ultra hyperball" to the sale at 50% off, it got ok reviews across the Web from a few 80% ratings... (nlife was sadly one of the worst). Take a look!
@Crono1973 My argument is that a corporation that has been in business for a century understands business better than anonymous personages. My data is that a corporation that has been in business for a century understands business better than anonymous personages. Because I've NEVER ACTUALLY ARGUED ANYTHING THAT REQUIRES A LOGICAL DEDUCTION. I pointed out an obvious truth--"success in business indicates ability in business"--that clearly serves as a counterpoint to the endless string of claims--none of which offered any sort of your beloved data--that Nintendo sucks at sales. "Sony is better" does not mean that Nintendo sucks. "Steam is better" does not mean that Nintendo sucks. They don't mean Nintendo doesn't know what it's doing, nor that their purposes aren't achieved. Tell you what--provide some data that Nintendo would earn more revenue if they offered larger discounts, that the number of sales increased would offset the loss of revenue on each sale, and I will concede your superior understanding of their corporate culture. But if you can't, would you kindly concede that just maybe the people who do have access to that information--Nintendo themselves--know what they're doing?
I guess it's not related to this promo, but Spelunker Party is 35% off.
@JimmySpades "Tell you what--provide some data that Nintendo would earn more revenue if they offered larger discounts, that the number of sales increased would offset the loss of revenue on each sale,..."
Exactly. A decrease in price does not imply an increase in revenue. It all depends on how responsive consumers are to a change in price. Something we like to call elasticity of demand in economics.
Similarly, an increase in price could also increase revenue. I think the oil companies have figured this one out already. Something about a relatively inelastic good.
I'm very disappointed. Honestly, there are way more full switch games then I would have guessed but no indie titles!
I was planning on taking advantage of done sales but will instead use it on the PS4 or just bank it.
Total weaksauce. Spent nearly seventy bucks this year on the PSN store though for Black Friday, so it's probably a good thing.
these deals are garbage and I'm talking about the switch
Ten bucks off Super Bomberman R. Be still my beating heart...
The point of a sale I guess should be to get people buy something they would not buy at full price? I'll happily pay full price for games I know I want but for example on PSN store I've bought games from sale I never would've tried because they've been 40-60% off. That is still a sale made and they've made money.
Now for these Switch sales I'll still happily pass. But then again it is maths, maybe they make more money from these sorry excuses of sales than selling more for less money.
It seems Nintendo prefer to have less sales at full price than higher volume sales at a cheaper price.
That's up to them but the fact every other company has decent sales (at least on old software) makes me think they'd be better off doing the same. After all other company's wouldn't be doing this if not financially viable. It's not an exercise done to benefit consumers.
My guess is Reggie would prefer to have a good sale line-up but that he's blocked by NCL.
... And nothing on the UK Eshop?!
Disappointing.
@Linoshi Nothing in the UK, instead we can pay inflated prices! lol
@roy130390 THANK YOU SIR. I second that recommendation for Fusions. It was so good, definitely an unexpected hit for me.
That Super Bomberman R "discount" 😂😂😂
@JimmySpades
Are you for real?? The sales suck because the discounts are terrible from a consumer point of view.
Can't believe that needs clarification.
@Alcovitch Yes, for real, I understand and accept that a corporation's primary obligation is to its shareholders, not its customers.
Can't believe that needs clarification.
