It's another big week in the Nintendo Download Update for North America, which could be described as the Thanksgiving line-up for US gamers. The Switch has a lot of new titles, including some high profile releases alongside some less expensive yet diverse options. The 3DS and Wii U don't entirely miss out, while the eShop Cyber Deals are also worth a look. Let's get to it.
Nintendo Mobile
Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp (Nintendo, free-to-start) - The global roll-out of this app started earlier this week, albeit there have been some server issues due to early demand. It'll be well worth a look once the issues clear up, however; we explain why in our Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp review.
Switch Retail Download
Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle Gold Edition (Ubisoft, $79.99) - This includes the full game and the Season Pass, with the final and biggest part of the DLC due in early 2018; it'll include a new world and 'new hero'. We loved this game in our Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle review, and the season pass content so far isn't too bad either.
Switch eShop
Resident Evil Revelations (Capcom, $19.99USD) - Originally a game that showcased the 3DS and its Circle Pad Pro, this solid spin-off entry in the series then made its way to Wii U and other assorted HD platforms. The arrival on Switch offers motion controls that bring back good memories of Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition. We'll confront the horror and bring you a fresh review. Available from 28th November.
Resident Evil Revelations 2 (Capcom, $19.99USD) - It's the first time that this sequel will be playable on Nintendo hardware; it was an episodic release originally, but now comes as one complete package. It has the same control options as the first Revelations, and we'll see whether it's worth the leap in a review. Available from 28th November.
Worms W.M.D. (Team17, $29.99USD) - Worms is certainly a classic franchise, and this entry blends some modern touches with the original formula. On Switch there's plenty of content included along with some exclusive goodies, and overall it earned a solid recommendation in our Worms W.M.D. review.
Mantis Burn Racing (VooFoo Studios, $19.99USD) - This top-down racer has various single- and multiplayer options, including cross-platform online play; the Switch version also includes some previous DLC that's been integrated into the campaign. We'll get stuck into a review, but in the meantime you can learn more from our interview with the developer.
Portal Knights (505 Games, $29.99USD) - Long on some wishlists, this combines Minecraft-inspired world creation with different character classes and battles. On Switch it has touchscreen support, while you can team up with others locally or online.
Aces of the Luftwaffe - Squadron (HandyGames, $14.99USD) - Somewhat different from the non 'Squadron' release previously seen on smart devices, this is a vertically scrolling shooter with an emphasis on local co-op play (though you can tackle it solo). Our review will be with you later today.
Uurnog Uurnlimited (Raw Fury, $14.99USD) - This has a quirky description - "Enter the wacky & whimsical world of Uurnog Uurnlimited! Explore a silly, puzzle-filled land full of cubes, bombs, weird people & adorable animals — then steal them all!". It features both single player and co-op, and in an interesting touch stages created in a level editor in the Steam version will be available to play on the Switch.
Crimsonland (10tons, $12.59USD) - With art that riffs on DOOM, this is a top-down shoot-everything-in-sight game, with a big focus on being able to blast away the hordes in various ways. It promises 60 levels in the Quest Mode and multiple survival modes for up to four players in local co-op.
Kid Tripp (Four Horses, $3.99USD) - This auto-running platformer offers some enjoyable and challenging action, with different difficulty settings to cater to various players. We enjoyed the 3DS version in our review, and also interviewed the developer a little while back.
Stick It to The Man (Zoink, $11.99USD) - This is a game that fuses point-and-click sensibilities with elements of platforming, all with an absurd (and funny) script to tie it all together. Previously a thoroughly entertaining game on Wii U, it's still well worth a look on Switch as we suggest in our review.
Letter Quest Remastered (Digerati, $14.99USD) - A rather charming word game / puzzler / RPG that arrived in mid-2016; it was rather good on Wii U. The campaign has 40 stages and there's an 'endless' Challenge mode, so this should keep wordy gamers busy.
Transcripted (Plug In Digital, $7.99USD) - This is a rather unique match three puzzler / shoot ‘em up hybrid that looks a bit like the love child of Nano Assault and Zuma. We'll check it out for a review.
Soccer Brawl (HAMSTER, $7.99USD) - The consistent roll-out of ACA titles continues in this futuristic footy game. Sure, it is soccer, but with cyborgs and a bit of arcade violence.
Switch eShop Demo
Nine Parchments (Frozenbyte, free)
Slime-san (Headup Games, free)
3DS eShop
Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney (Capcom, $19.99USD) - We've seen plenty of Ace Attorney titles on the 3DS, including 'remasters' with improved visuals and assorted tweaks; this rounds out the series collection (aside from Japan-only titles) on the portable. This has the nice option of switching to the Japanese version of the game, if you want to go that way - we'll investigate and let you know if we have any objections in a review.
New Nintendo 3DS eShop
Breakout Defense 2 (nuGAME, $6.99USD) - This is a versus Breakout game in which you try to beat the AI across 20 stages.
Physical Contact: Picture Place (Collavier Corporation, $4.58USD) - Another in this series of relatively simplistic games that encourages local multiplayer.
Wii U eShop
Breakout Defense 2 - (nuGAME, $7.00USD) - Like the New 3DS version, but you pay an extra cent for shinier graphics.
Wii U Virtual Console
Bomberman Panic Bomber (Konami, $5.99USD) - The run of retro titles on the Wii U via Konami continues with this spin-off, which basically seems to be a hybrid of Tetris and Columns.
Don't forget that the eShop Cyber Deals are live - you can see the full line-up here.
There are a lot of choices this week - let us know what you'll be downloading in the poll and comments below.

Never voted 1st before. So 'nothing for me' is at 100%.
Resident Evil Revelations 2 needs a pre-purchase option! When I buy a game I want to play it straight away not 2 to 3 hours later.
Really looking forward to RE Revelations 2.
I already have 1 on 3ds. I was planing on buying the physical combo pack to save SD card space but since 2 is a GIANT download either way I'll pass on double dipping on 1, save the $20 and just buy the eShop version of 2.
Portal Knights...!!!
Wahooo....!!!
I’m relieved to say nothing for me this week, any news of the physical version of Portal Knights?
@JHDK The Resident Evil Revelaitons games are part of a test that Capcom are doing on the platform.
So you better buy it if you want Ultimate We Love Golf on Switch.
@Farts_Ahoy
Portal Knights Switch Retail version will be on 13 Feb 2018.
I've already played Revelations on 3DS, and I'm not really interested in the sequel. Now on the other hand, if they were to port RE4 to the Switch...I've never played that one, and I've only heard good stuff about it.
That being said, it still ticks me off that Capcom puts these RE games on Switch but not Mega Man Legacy Collection 1 and 2. Come on, Capcom...
Nothing for me this week, too busy getting my butt handed to me in the ARMS party crash, LOL (I'm so rusty!)
If Capcom would have put faith into their game selling and purchasing a bigger game card for Revelations 2, the dual pack would be an instant buy for me. For now I am not getting these games until third party devs step it up; L.A. Noire is in the same situation: no buy for now
I have never tried the RE games so these might be a nice distraction. Question... is one better than the other, do I need to play 1 before 2? Thanks all and Happy Thanksgiving to our American friends!
Hm, can't find the switch demos on the shop. Is there a certain time that new releases go live?
@Dayton311 Haven't played 2 but I would certainly bet you should play one first as it seems like it was a continuing series.
@jwfurness
At noon usually. I believe they normally post the update list a few hours before it all goes live.
Would have bought Worms if it wasn’t ridiculously overpriced.
I’m hoping revelations 2 offers inverse stick control with aiming while keeping the motion aiming regular. On the vita you can’t do that with the gyroscope option and it ruined the aiming for me.
@Dayton311 @Spoony_Tech
You don't need to play the first. They are separate games with separate characters and separate stories.
I think they're both worth picking up though. The second game will be more visually stunning (though at 30fps while the first is 60fps, not that it matters it in a game like this). The second game also has co-op for the entire campaign out the gate, playable in split screen with a single joy con. The first game has co-op also but it has to be unlocked for RAID mode by beating each level in the single player, and I think it's only local wireless and online, not splitscreen. Of course I could be wrong and maybe they unlocked the RAID mode levels from the get go this time.
Happy Thanksgiving, fellow NL Lifers!
I already downloaded Pocket Camp, am buying Worms from the eShop and have Resident Evil Revelations Collection on preorder. I wish RE2 was on cart also, but it will be great to have the original in physical format nonetheless. Another big week for games!
Just Animal Crossing for me. Never played a game in that series before so this will be a good way to test the waters.
Animal Crossing, Portal Knights, and Panic Bomber for me.
Unfortunately, I bought Rev 2 earlier in the year on PS4, so I can't really justify buying it again when I haven't even played the first version I downloaded, but Rev 1 HD is VERY tempting. There's something fitting about a RE game born on 3DS coming back on the Switch.
@blockfight I don't think it's a good test. It's very much a mobile game and not like a proper AC game. It'd be like someone using FE Heroes to determine if they're interested in other FE games: there's a passing resemblance, but also huge differences.
@jwfurness they go live at noon eastern time in USA
Nothing for me, but that's only because I'm saving up for a new PC, about to start playing PC stuff, but that "stuff is just Minecraft and Overwatch, lol
Why do us European readers have to look up eShop updates on competing sites? Do they get updates earlier?
why is RE out already in the US on the 23rd and over here we have to wait until the 28th????
@slaine it says the 28th on the us eshop. I’m guessing it’s a screwup
@Anti-Matter I'm genuinely happy for you lol
@Dayton311 I never got all the way through 2, but played Revelations 1 a few times. They're pretty standalone, but I'd play them in order anyway. I enjoyed the first one more.
Thanks all for the advice! I will go ahead and pick both up!
I'm waiting on a release date for Dragon: Marked For Death and Xenoverse 2 dlc 5. So until then...slime-san and nine parchment demos. Because they both look like fun.
It’s bad when you say you’re not buying anymore games, but each week, $80 gets spent on them. I never should have gotten a switch.
@faint but you can purchase it now?
Already have Animal Crossing Pocket Camp. Will be downloading Portal Knights
Stick it to the Man is great. Wacky, weird, lots of fun.
I'm gonna buy the physical copy of resident evil which includes 2 digitally
@Giygas_95 revelations was the best re games since re4. I haven’t played 2 and I think I own 1 on my Wii U but need to check before buying both for switch. Would rather get physical but might just get 2 on eshop.
Reached that point where I can no longer keep up with the releases, which is actually awesome. Just have to be very choosy. As I wrap up Doom and Mario Odyssey, Xenoblade and Stardew Valley are in my sights, which should carry me deep into next year.
Honestly both the Resident Evil Revelations games should had been $20 altogether. Already got both on 3DS and PS Vita so not going to bother getting it on Switch unless it goes for bargain bin price. Like I always said Capcom, you need to try harder and you will try hard otherwise you won't see any support from me.
I'm interested in Portal Knights, but it's hard to justify it when it's $10 more than it would be in my PS4. Maybe the portability would be worth it, but at this point I'll wait for the Switch-specific reviews.
I would be trying Pocket Camp...if my phone was compatible. >_>
Worms is a maybe right now, maybe I'll get it sooner if custom maps were a thing.
Bomberman Panic Bomber. Judging by how many TurboGrafx game Konami has released lately, is this is the Japanese PCE CD version?
Probably, since I think it was otherwise on NeoGeo and Super Famicom.
Oh yeah... and maybe one other Nintendo console...
Resident Evil Revelations 2 is gonna be the only game I am going to pick up nothing else had it on the PS vita but never got a chance to finish it and got rid of it also the Online raid mode and 8bit mini game is inticing.
I will get the SIime San demo as that one seems divisive. Still not sure about Revelations. In any case I would get 2, but as The Evil Within 2 is newer and just $10 more on PS4 for a limited time, I will get that instead.
@WaveBoy I played the first game on the 3ds all on gyro and had no problems and even had 3d up all the way. That's the way I intend to play the second as well.
Another strong week (or day at this point) for the Switch!! Both RE’s for me, Aces, Crimsonland,Kid Tripp, Mantis Burn, Soccer Brawl, and Stick it to the man! Next week we get an oldie but goodie from Hamster/Irem called “Traverse USA” which I believe is also known as Zippy Race OR Motorcross USA? Published in the American Arcades by Williams Electronics?? Either way, next week it’s mine!! 👍😊
@Dayton311 nope you can try either one first. Both are fine games but RE4 is still the king in my eyes and would love to see come to Switch. RE bio hazzard was freaky and scary and worth considering and hopefully one day Will also come to Switch? Amazing graphics and atmosphere!!
Kid Tripp
@Donutman I feel ya man. Today I spent $80.00 on PS4 shop Black Friday sale and Xbox Live also a Black Friday sale, $75.00. Tonight, after my family hits the hay I go out on the prowl with $700 in saved up cash for some big retail Black Friday bargains!! Best Buy and Target at midnight and Gamestop at 6am sharp! With an extra large coffee to assist me. 😃😃 Then go home and after i take a nap, i will game my ass off all day long!! 😆😆
@KingMike
i do believe this is a first for bomberman panic bomber to arrive on a virtual console service? i dont recall it on the wii vc...
i heard you wanted 46 copies for yer virtual boy, but i mean hey!
@ThomasBW84 now that RE7 is a thing, all Resident Evils before it aside from 1, 2 and 4 are simply laughable. Revelations series are among the worst.
Hey everybody, unfortunately Japan gets both physical copies of resident evil collection, while north America gets one. We know that Capcom is a Japanese company, but I believe that resident evil is more popular in north America.
Putting Worms W.M.D, Portal Knights, and Uurnog Uurnlimited on my wishlist.
Hope they're on retail by the time I've finished the obligatory ones, Skyrim, L.A. Noire, DOOM, and Xenoblade 2.
I recommend Stick It to the Man for adventure fans and Letter Quest Remastered for puzzle-rpg fans. Both very good games.
My favourite Resident Evil game is RE4, especially the Wii Edition, so like any other Resident Evil game, Revelations just doesn't do it for me. ^^
I found the Nine Parchments Demo today, but I didn't know that there's a Slime-san Demo as well.
@gcunit Just see it on steam..its soo cheap, however inclusive of all DLC it cost 14.99 $ for the sale but normally it cost 29.99. I guess the appeal for the switch version for me its the motion controls and the obvious portability.
Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp and RER2, though AC was more for my mom as I've more or less retired from AC. What little I saw while she was playing looked entertaining. RER2 has a real attractive price point, so I may just pick that up sooner than later. Worms WMD NEEDS to be in my library on Switch, but damn that initial price, yikes. I'll wait for a sale on that one.
Sucks us in the uk need to wait till the 28th for resident evils and there digital only.
@GraveLordXD Yup. And RE:R2 is a 20+ gigabyte download.
Anyone know what size ResEvil Rev 1&2 are together if you download?
