If you read our Nintendo Download Update details for Europe recently you'll have seen Ambition of the Slimes in the 3DS eShop category, a turn-based RPG in which you control slimes of various abilities. Developed by Altair Works and being published by CIRCLE Entertainment, it certainly looks promising.
The good news is that it's also coming to North America in this week's update (on 11th August) priced at $5, and it seems rather intriguing. The trailer below showcases the retro look and sound, along with some neat 3D environments with an isometric camera angle. As you can see, different kinds of slimes need to 'claim' humans in order to use them in battle.
It looks rather neat and quirky, which is always a combination to pique our interest. Is this one on your radar?

That's certainly a neat idea, controlling what is normally one of the first enemies you encounter in an RPG. I may actually pick this up.
I hope they fixed the dificulty curve because the game on android is brutal
The graphics and music look/sound great. Nice idea!
I quite like this idea. It sounds pretty fun!
Fire emblem with slimes. Doesn't look bad actually!
"From the mouth... Slime goes inside..." is actual dialogue"
Lol, it says "Suggestive themes" in the trailer. So that's that!
Definitely keeping an eye on this.
I'll wait for the review first.
Price sounds good, and I love the aesthetics. We'll see how it turns out, and if it reviews well, I think I'll get on board.
i'm curious about this one too
Seems they've done a bit of work to improve the translation from the android version. Circle has its issues with translation but they appear to have improved on what I'm seeing on my phone.
@Henmii Haha, fair point!
Circle Entertainment, huh?
Nah, I'm good.
This actually looks pretty fun! And it's cheap too - why not buy it?
Looks actually pretty neat, might have to see a review first haha
Is this coming to the US... Looks like a lot of fun
I've never played it, but this looks like Disgaea.
@ultramega_ok I sent the developer an email with the same concerns, and they did answer (fairly quickly) that the 3DS version has a "Hard" difficulty which is the Android version default, but also an easier "Normal" setting. They also told me the slimes don't have "Fatigue" in the 3DS version, so you can use them whenever you want.
Now I'm thinking in purchasing it on the eshop even though I've already quite far on the Android version... Haha
A slime tactic game that is not based on Dragon Quest and not from Square Enix? Interesting but I'll give it a try if ever I had the chance.
