The much-delayed Mighty No. 9 might have taken a credibility hit thanks to its recent trailer, but this spiritual successor to Capcom's legendary Mega Man is still shaping up nicely - as the following gameplay footage attests.
GameSpot has captured video of three different bosses from the game, proving that creator Keiji Inafune has lost none of his talent for tightly-designed and memorable enemies.
Give them a watch and let us know if you're still excited about playing this 2D action platformer.

Oh God, the Cryosphere boss is just the worst. So unnecessarily annoying!
Gameplay seems okay, just wish the bosses weren't so freaking annoying.
Waiting for the obligatory "I don't care for this game anymore" comments.
I understand people's opinion of this game. But I don't share it. It looks like a decent action platformer, I'm looking forward to playing it.
Also, tell me I wasn't the only one thinking of this in the Cryosphere video:
Especially the "cold shoulder" part...
More pizza explosions? This game has the worst-looking explosions I have ever seen in a video game.
I just want more pizzasplosions
game would be 75% better without numbers and text filling the screen constantly.
"Pew, Pew, Pew"
Prepare for incoming RAGE!
From the perspective of someone who's never played a Mega Man game, those bosses look REALLY easy and simple, just dash away and spam your gun. Am I missing something or do people who know what they are talking about see good design in these?
The voice acting is atrocious. Cryosphere was the worst. Pew pew pew pew pew. PeeU indeed because it stinks!
pew pew pewpewpewpewpew....
Wow annoying. Are they trying to make the game annoying?
oh and cheese explosions
Did they pay someone to market this game in the WORST way possible? "Here, watch all the boss battles, so when you do play the game, there will be literally no element of surprise, and it will feel as underwhelming as possible." DON'T SHOW ENTIRE BOSS BATTLES!!
Gah! I want to like this game.
@AlexSora89 And yet no one has commented that. Don't you feel silly?
Also, your unnecessary long posts full of gif images are really obnoxious. Just saying.
So did they tried to be as cringe as Megaman 8 and X7 with the dialogues and annoying voice over in boss fights ?
I recall seeing these fights around a year ago.
This is how I feel every time I see MN9 footage.

I want to play this game... don't I?
@EverythingAmiibo
I'm not seeing it either. The stages and bosses shown so far need a lot of work. All of them.
Well, at the very least, those security monitors during the second boss fight that let you view the battle from different angles is a pretty neat thing I've never seen in a 2D platformer before.
Also, did anyone notice the one guy's name in the third video is Dr. White, which is really close to Dr. Light? Or is that a thing people already knew about? I haven't exactly been following this game.
I think it looks good, and can't wait to finally play it. I just hope the Wii U version is treated right, and is not too inferior to the others, if at all.
@BensonUii
@G_M
Sorry, I'm a total sucker for GIFs.
Either, Gameplay actually looks alright, or, Gameplay actually looks alright.
Cryosphere looks like an ice version of Aqua Man from Battle Network 3... With the annoyance of the annoyance of the original Aqua Man from Mega Man 8!
Allow me to rant here for a second...
Okay, I'm looking forward to this game, the 3DS version specifically, but for Pete's sake is it really necessary for bosses to talk before and during battles? And have annoying voices on top of that? This has been something that's bothered me since like Mega Man X4. The Mega Man and earliest Mega Man X games didn't do that, and were we ever thinking "Gee, I sure wish these bosses would monologue before fighting us." ? Take a hint from Tuco: when you have to shoot, shoot! Don't talk.
Okay sorry about the rant...hope you all have a great day.
It actually looks pretty cool. Maybe I'll pick it up. But the voice acting and explosions need work.
Gameplay-wise this looks exactly like what a spiritual successor to Megaman should look like, I do not understand what people's issues are with the actual game. If you wanna complain about a lame line a voiceover made for the trailer, fine, but don't equate that kind of nonsense with what the game actually is. Which to me looks like more megaman, and that is all I freaking want, so I'm definitely happy.
Inafune isn't a creator so stop spreading lies Nintendolife.
@GammaPhonic your not the only one
I prefer Yoshi's Wooly Island rather than Mighty no 9.
For 2.5 D platformer game, the voice of Yarn Yoshi is so damn cute.
The voice acting of Mighty no 9 still needed to be advised.
Hype is all but gone for this game for me but I'll pick up it up just for that Mega Man nostalgic.
Boss looks supereasy and very slow to react to your moves....
Bah...I would reconsider the megaman collection instead
Hopefully I'm not the only one who thinks Cryo looks similar to Omochao. xD
I was afraid of these voices. We had the opportunity for Japanese voices but the Kickstarter backers voted a slight majority for English; unfortunately they didn't offer an option to choose.
Reminds me of the differences between Megaman ZX and ZX Advent. The original did have all the voice acting removed but the battle cries and boss taunts were left from the Japanese version and sounded cool and amazing. ZX Advent however had them in English and were corny and terrible.
@ItalianBaptist think if we pester pizza hut, they'll give us pizza splosions?
Game looks like fun to me still, voice acting is cringe-inducing but it's not like that's never happened before....and the reason I will never fight Advent's Buckfire in public.
I'm happy I'll get to pick it up in June.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE It's nowhere near as embarrassing as ZX Advent's VA. From what I hear, voice acting was the fly in MMX4 perfect soup, but I haven't played it so I wouldn't know. Its definitely got nothing on Tornado Tonion and Flame Hyenard. Xo It's still pretty annoying though and the reason I prefer silent characters, or at least grunts and hyaahs and short laughter and stuff.
Oh well. Maybe there will be an option to turn voices off?
I take it back, I just heard Pyro's voice acting and it was...was...there's no words to describe.
Cryosphere's voice actress sounds familiar. Like...I wanna say Rugrats?
Is the voice actor the same one they used in Kid Icarus Uprising?
@AlexSora89 Is it wrong that I still kinda like how campy that movie is?
@Tempestryke
That's the only possible way to like it. Too bad it's in the same continuity/verse as the Burton films.
@AlexSora89 I like the Burton films actually. I guess its because I grew up watching reruns of the batman tv show, that makes me immune to its bizzare vibe. ^_^`
Better then Batman vs. Super Man impo.
@Tempestryke
Thing is, the 66 Batman show was wrapped in its own logic, and still is after being renewed in comic book form as "Batman '66" (which takes place in an alternate universe/timeline within the wider DC multiverse). The Schumacher Batman films, on the other hand, were supposed to take place in the same Gotham that was established by Burton years earlier. Compare the fourth film, Batman And Robin, to the second, Batman Returns, and draw your own conclusions.
@AlexSora89
fair enough
This reminds of Flame Hyenard from Megaman X7. They really need to tone down the obnoxious repetive boss lines.
Not that I really care what they do with this turd.
Only saw the first boss video, I'm kinda convinced to buy the game. It had those MM vibes I was looking for even though the dash mechanic is up in the air about how good or bad it can be.
Loved the music and sounds in general.
His arm cannon looks like a meatus. Was this intentional?
