It's the start of another week, and though a little later than normal Nintendo of Europe has issued details on what we can expect in this week's download update. It's a week with multiple high-profile retail releases, including some tasty new discounts in the Nintendo Selects range. Beyond that we have some varied download-only games, DLC, free updates and even a couple of demos. There's plenty to get through, so let's get to the details.
Wii U eShop
Dual Core (Gray Fin Studios, €9.99 / £8.99) - This colourful twin-stick shooter has robots as the protagonists, wrapping a sci-fi story around co-op focused gameplay. Teaming up with others locally or with the AI seems to be integral to getting through stages, and robots in the team can be gradually upgraded with progress. It looks like it has a lot of potential, so we'll process an opinion and bring you a review.
Rubik's Cube (Cypronia, €2.49 / £2.24 until 21st July for users who own Cube Life: Island Survival, otherwise €4.99 / £4.49) - The name pretty much describes this one fully; here you have a virtual 3D representation of the famous puzzle to solve. We'll match the sides and bring you a review.
STEEL LORDS (nuGame, €14.99 / £10.99) - A title that promises a blend of strategic board-game play with fighting, in principle it sounds promising. We hope this will be an improvement over the disappointing STEEL RIVALS, and will let you know what we think in a review.
SPLASHY DUCK (RCMADIAX, €1.49 / £1.39) - The latest budget arrival from RCMADIAX, in this one you use one button to change the direction of the aforementioned duck, trying to avoid hits and collect gold coins. It seems to be another simplistic score chaser, but we'll see whether it can make a splash in our review.
Wii U Virtual Console
The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask (Nintendo, €9.99 / £8.99) - The Nintendo 64 returns to the Wii U with this classic title, which is also available on the 3DS in its remastered form (at a retail price). One of the most critically acclaimed and fondly regarded games of its era, it has a rather dark and peculiar tone, in addition to the challenge of saving the world in the same 72 hour window on multiple occasions. We loved this in our original Wii Virtual Console Majora's Mask review.
Nintendo Presents: Style Boutique (Nintendo, €9.99/ £8.99 ) - A chance to see where the fashion-savvy series started on DS, particularly for those that have enjoyed the two most recent entries on 3DS. We'll work on our look and bring you a review.
Wii U Retail Download
Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE (Nintendo, €59.99/ £49.99) - A title that underwent (it seemed) a slightly troubled development and shifts in focus, it now arrives as a rather colourful and quirky RPG, incorporating Fire Emblem 'mirage' characters within the cast. With a catchy music focus and plenty of traditional RPG depth this promises a great deal; we'll see whether it delivers on that potential in our review prior to the game's release. Available from 24th June.
Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games (Nintendo, €49.99/ £39.99) - Arriving after the 3DS equivalent, this one offers HD takes on 17 different sports, with intuitive multiplayer options if you want to battle some friends and family for the gold medal. This version also encourages friendly competition with 'Duel Events', too - we'll see whether it's a winner in a review. Available from 24th June.
Mighty No. 9 (Deep Silver, €19.99/ £17.99) - A game that began as a phenomenal success on Kickstarter but has suffered some setbacks, notably with delays. It's finally ready to blast away on the Wii U, though, and we'll see whether Keiji Inafune and his Comcept team are on form in a review. Available from 24th June.
Wii U DLC
Minecraft: Wii U Edition Update (Mojang, free) - Will include the Battle mode feature. Available from 21st June.
Minecraft: Wii U Edition: Battle Map Pack 1 (Mojang, €2.99 / £2.39)
Minecraft: Wii U Edition: Battle Map Season Pass (Mojang, €9.99 / £7.99)
Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE - Tokyo Millennium Collection (Nintendo, €1.99 / £1.79)
Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE - Mirage Hunter (EXP) (Nintendo, €1.99 / £1.79)
Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE - Mirage Hunter (Mastery) (Nintendo, €1.99 / £1.79)
Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE - Mirage Hunter (Savage Festival) (Nintendo, €1.99 / £1.79)
Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE - 3 Support Quest Set (Nintendo, €4.99 / £4.49)
Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE - Atlus Collaboration Costume Set (Nintendo, €1.99 / £1.79)
Mighty No. 9 - Ray Expansion (Deep Silver, €4.99 / £3.99)
SDK Paint - Slideshows Pack 1 (HullBreach Studios, €0.50/ £0.50)
SDK Paint - Slideshows Pack 2 (HullBreach Studios, €0.50/ £0.50)
SDK Paint - Slideshows Pack 3 (HullBreach Studios, €0.50/ £0.50)
SDK Paint - Total Slideshows Pack (HullBreach Studios, €1.25/ £1.09)
Wii U eShop Temporary Discounts
VoxelMaker (Nostatic Software, €3.59 / £2.79 until 30th June, normally €4.49 / £3.49)

3DS eShop
Unholy Heights (Bergsala Lightweight, €5.99 / £5.39) - A rather quirky title promising a mix of tower defence and 'apartment management'; monsters are moving into your building so you set rent and make sure they're happy. You then try to repel heroes when they come to slay the monsters. It sounds like it could be fun, but we'll see whether it needs to be evicted in our review.
Conveni Dream (CIRCLE Entertainment, €5.00 / £4.50) - Those that are eager smart device gamers will likely be familiar with resource management sim games, and this falls into that broad category. You take charge of a convenience store and try to gradually expand and improve, while also dealing with events and quests. We'll check the expiry date on this one and work on a review.
Rubik's Cube (Cypronia, €4.99 / £4.49) - As per the Wii U version, though available on the go and at a lower resolution.
3DS DLC
Fire Emblem Fates: Map 8 - Vanguard Dawn (Nintendo, €1.99/ £1.79 or part of Map Pack 1) - If you remember the "Elincia's Gambit" stage from Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, this map might seem familiar to you! Standing firm against its waves of opponents could prove to be a tough challenge!

FINALLY! Something for me this week: I'm getting TMS Fortissimo Edition physically so I chose Majora's Mask, at last it's on the VC! I hope it's the 60hz US version.
I'll upgrade Majora's Mask, altough I much prefer the 3D-version of the game. I will also get Tokyo Mirage Sessions, but physically.
No super paper Mario
Getting Tokyo Mirage Sessions physical.
I bet @Barbiegurl777 is jealous Europe is getting Teddy Together
Probably the Mario&Luigi RPG (game card), though I would have prefered the "in Bowser" episode.
I might also buy a physical version of Ocarina 3D for the sake of keeping a homebrew access just in case.
@MadAussieBloke The game is already tested somewhere?!
I thought Terraria physical was supposed to be released on June 24 as well...
I'm gonna predict the NL review scores:
Tokyo Mirage Sessions - 8/10
Mario & Sonic Rio Olympics - 7/10
Mighty No. 9 - 6/10
Nothing for me. The delay in today's announcement had me hoping....
Stupid hope
Ahahaha what the hell? Inafune has launch day DLC with Mighty Number 9. That guy is seriously one of the worst developers around. He has the guts to chop part of the game to DLC after years of delays.
Awesome that finally TMS#FE is here. I hope I get my limited edition that I pre-ordered, would be sad not to get it.
Quite a silent surprise to see The Devil's Third get a permanent discount, I think it should go still 10 euros even lower from that in order to get some new buyers.
Getting TMS physically but won't arrive here until Monday which is fine as I work on Sat - Mon so when it arrives I will have a food few days to play it.
After reading a couple of rwviews of Mighty No. 9 I cancelled my preorder. Kinda sad.
Aw man...
Why LEGO CITY Undercover Wii U Nintendo Selects just Europe version only ? The price is cheaper than first released.
Wait, Mighty No 9 gets to call itself retail instead of eShop? Pfffffft.
I might grab Another World. I haven't played that game since way back in the day.
Splashy Duck by RCMADIAX .he's not even trying with the titles anymore. What a joke that guy is! Lets all hope he gets nowhere near the NX.
Quite a packed week for the Wii U although nothing really for me,possibly Dual Core if it reviews well.I will be upgrading Majora's Mask though, providing it's the 60HZ version and not optimised 50HZ like OoT.
I really hope Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE turns out good. I could use a game like that right now, as I still don't feel all those western action-adventure-open-world-rpg games, we are getting these days.
The Virtual Console is disappointing this far. I hoped to see many more games by now.
About a year ago Cypronia promised "a Future Release for Free as Celebration of Cube Life: Island Survival Sales" . Can't remember we got that?
@Dakt If you have done a Wii system transfer then any titles switched over will appear on the Eshop at a discounted price, providing they've been released on Wii U VC.I forget how much N64 titles are to upgrade,£1.79 I think.NES titles are 99p and SNES £1.49.
Ufinally a decent week for WII U. Magoras mask N64, Tokyo mirrage sessions, Mighty number nine. And some excellent discounts for 3ds too. May just have to finally get the 3ds version of Ocarina of Time. At £16 its a steal.
@Ralek85 you ever played any of the Persona games? Persona 4 Golden for the ps vita especially is one of the greatest jrpg's ever made. And while I think it will be a long shot for TMS to be as good as P4G, it certainly looks to be in the same veign. So I think the game will be great.
@Marshi Of the 3DS games I have played, Ocarina of Time 3D and Majora's Mask 3D have the best 3D effect.
Really tempted to get minecraft, but the price is a little off-putting since I've had it on pc since day one and got the beta price.
The lack of votes for Mighty No.9 in the poll is relevant.
It might mostly bomb...
I Kickstarted Mighty No 9, so I'll have that, even though I'm not excited for it anymore. I'll also try the Mario and Sonic Rio demo.
I'll never played Majora's Mask, but I probably already has the 3DS version somewhere that I'll play eventually.
Is the Mario & Sonic Rio Olympics demo really on the 3DS, where the game released 3 months ago, and not on the Wii U, where it launches this week?
Nintendo seems to be taking the "Price is Right" route with their 800,000 Wii U financial year prediction, as close as possible, but without going over.
Yes! Majora's Mask! The Nintendo eShop Virtual Console is getting better and better.
ohhhhh that Devil's Third, price is very nice! (too bad im in NA)
other then that waiting for TMS
Majora's Mask, TMS#FE and Mighty Number 9 for me this week maybe Mario & Sonic Olympics plus wait for reviews on Dual Core and Steel Lords.
Great to see majoras mask up on the VC at last!!!
Anyone know if it's the 60hrz version????
I'm getting TMS#FE and Mario & Sonic physically, the DLC for Fates, Majora's Mask and the DLC for TMS#FE. I don't remember whether that was the special edition DLC but if not I'll buy the DLC.
I MAY pick up either Shingeki no Kyojin: Humanity in Chains or The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D up for those prices.
@BarryDunne. That's good to hear.
@Barbiegurl777 Aw, i was just kidding. I'm sure it'll show up in this week's Nintendo Download for America!
Dual Core and Devil's Third for me. Tokyo Mirage Sessions later because why 59,99€ for the download + 15€ DLC.
@Kolzig Umm, it was done using extra KS funds and wasn't "chopped off" from the main game in any way. Backers get it free anyways.
It's strange, I'm sure I've seen the headline "23rd June... Europe.. something something" somewhere before
Huh, surprised to see Majora's Mask considering the 3DS port is about 16 months old (And not to mention I'm still waiting on Pokemon Snap as Japan's had that for awhile now.). Would have thought last week would have been a better time to release it though, what to celebrate Breath of the Wild and the fact this week is already a busy week without it (Tokyo Mirage Sessions, Mario+Sonic, Mighty No 9, a new line of Nintendo Selects, etc.) but hey, it's here at least.
@gcunit
Makes sense to me. Eerily so, in fact.
Off-topic, where did Alex show off those glasses? And... is it Mario on top of 'em?
Very nice on getting Majora's Mask! Here's hoping North America will see it on the Wii U VC soon as well.
@AlexSora89 Congratulations - you're the first person to bother noticing/asking me about Mario!
I took the clip of Alex from his video on the Retro Super Mario swimming shorts. But I wanted to personalise it in a Nintendo fashion, so I stuck Mario on the top of glasses.
@Oubie It is. It's already on eShop, so they're not going to mention it in the digital download update.
I think NA is going to get that Majora's Mask + Spirit Tracks week that I remember seeing about in the forums.
@gcunit
Thanks! Funny thing is--glasses with a plastic Mario on top of them are something Alex would actually wear.
Got the Tokyo mirage sessions limited edition (incredibly limited!) Coming Friday! I hope it has some dlc, would be a bit cheap of them if not. But whatever the game looks incredible! Mighty no. 9 I'll probably get physical on xbox one, is the 3ds version cancelled Amazon has no release date. If not I'd get it physical too, been if just for the 3d effect. Would've loved a vita version but oh well. Devil's third must've been selling BAD for that price cut. Although I have it physical as it'll probably become rather elusive!
@CrazedCavalier shows how much I've followed the project and I'm a KS backer!
Been burned a long time ago because of how horrible the project has been handled. Also annoys me that they give Sony's platforms cross platform purchase and not to Nintendo with Wii U and 3DS.
@RainbowGazelle Oh okay cool. I like to give the game a try but with the option to sell it if it's not for me, so phyisical would be ideal.
So many retail Wii U games haha with Minecraft and LEGO Star Wars arriving next week as well.
Want Mirage Sessions but I'll wait for the review.s
I find it annoying that the file size for the big releases is never included. It would be really useful to people with slow internet connections. Can we have this for future Nintendo Download articles please?
Tokyo Mirage is 12 Go in size apparently.
I hope Mirage Sessions will come to the NX.
Devil's Third was €59.99? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Even the discount isn't worth it. What a load of garbage.
@MowMow789 No, it comes out June 24th. The real Olympics however does happen in August.
Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE is a disgraceful game on so many levels. It deserves to fail. That DLC should be on the disc. €15 worth and the game isn't even out. And charging €60 for the digital version is bonkers. Where am I supposed to buy the Fortissimo Edition?
Flicking back & forth at the mo with Sunset Overdrive on XB1 & Kirby Planet Robobot & Fire Emblem on 3ds but I might nab a physical copy of PM:Sticker Star (again) for that price.
Otherwise I'm good til 7th Dragon III / MH Generation releases.
@Grumblevolcano NA just got Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Red/Blue Rescue Team and Explorers of Sky today!
https://twitter.com/NintendoAmerica/status/744937871912669185
Edit: Nintendo's Twitter post is misleading. They come on Thursday, not today.
This is it folks, this is the last good Download update for Wii U until Zelda.
I usually don't pop in for the European Nintendo releases, but while I was here, I see Devil's Third has finally gone on sale. If it's $30 in NA this Thursday, I may have to finally take the plunge on that game. There was no way I was going to pay $60. (Of course, if I find it in a bargain bin, that would be even better)
Mirage Sessions has DLC?! I had no idea.
Dream team has been on my list for quite a while now guess its time to pick it up.
gonna pick up OoT 3D. After watching the e3 coverage of the latest zelda and being disappointed (cause i just dont like open world games) i really want to play OoT again. And the 3DS version seems to be the best right now.
Interested in Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE, but I've not seen a single review or comment about this game?
@SLIGEACH_EIRE FYI, the Fortissimo edition shows up on the various international Amazon's once in awhile. Gotta be quick tho!
Woah! Three retail releases on Wii U this week? ITS ALIVE... for now at least....
@whodatninja It's ridiculous that you can't buy it anywhere. Once in a blue moon it shows up on Amazon and it's gone well within an hour. It was on Amazon Germany this evening for less than 20 minutes. You've got to wonder how many copies have been printed.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE why are you so unhappy with it? The Dlc was made after the game was made in Japan. Should the creator not be compensated for their extra work? Also I'm pretty sure all games cost the same digitally and physically when they first come out.
Devils third is cheaper for a physical version on amazon at the moment (in the UK at least)
@SLIGEACH_EIRE probably like 400 copies for all Europe lol
@Jasonmd Sorry but you're wrong. The DLC came out at the same time as the game in Japan.
Mario and Luigi and Another world me thinks
@Marshi Of course I played the Persona games, as well as SMT games and FE games, that is why I care ^^ Yeah, I am hopeful, too, but I do like to see some reviews from some trusted reviewers before I jump ship, as - while I really like what I saw of the combat - the whole theme of the game, visually and setting-wise, is not really my ideal vision for the game. Still, if it gets decent reviews, I am in (though I would really love a short demo to get a taste of it .... might have even bought Star Fox, if a demo had convinced me I could learn to deal with the controls, though the very fact there was no demo was kind of worrying in itself).
@Ralek85 Edge Magazine gave TMS #FE 7/10.
@whodatninja Majora's Mask is 50hz or so I read on a google search narrowed down of the last 24 hours.
@Porky Damnit Nintendo.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE I never really read EDGE, so that is not doing much for me right now ^^ There is a strong tendency these days, for high median scores, depending on the site/magazine or reviewer, meaning a 7 could actually be pretty bad. Anyways, there are a number of reviewers out there, I "trust", as I followed them for a long time, and to a certain degree they share my taste. I am confident sufficient postive reviews will come around shortly!
@CrazedCavalier
Comcept is really doing nice work, it's been over a week since the European release of the game and I'm still missing my Ray and Retro Hero DLCs on my Wii U game. Comcept isn't replying to my mails, one guy from Mighty No 9 forums is and Humble Bundle is claiming I have the DLC already since my code in HB says game + DLC, but in the game I have no DLC anywhere. Also I can't even choose Maniac or any other mode since the game starts always on Normal difficulty.
I'm sure at this point at the dummies at Comcept sent a regular Wii U code to Humble Bundle and claimed it to be including the DLC.
