Axiom Verge is a game that very clearly drew strong inspiration from the Metroid games of old, so it came as no surprise when the game was inevitably announced to be coming to Wii U. Tom Happ, the game's sole creator, even referred to it as the game coming to it's "home turf". While that Wii U port is due out later this year sometime, one must wonder whether or not the 3DS will get in on the fun sometime. It seems this is being looked into, but nothing is set in stone at the moment.
Nintendo World Report caught up with Tom Happ at this year's E3, where they got a chance to talk with him briefly. One of the questions asked was whether or not the game would be coming to 3DS, and Happ remarked that it was something he'd be interested in. Unfortunately, the system's screen resolution and hardware limitations count it out from running the game on the platform in its current state, but Happ said that it could be theoretically possible to overcome these issues. Perhaps this could be a Binding of Isaac case, where a New 3DS version could work.
What do you think? Would you like to see this on 3DS? For those that have played it, what did you think? Drop us a comment in the section below.

I would LOVE to see this game on N3DS, even more so than on Wii U. Portable gaming is where it's at for me these days.
I do think a N3DS version would be feasible, but you'd have to make adjustments in some areas.
Taking some screenshots found online, most gameplay looks to use sprites scaled 4x larger than normal, reduced to their 1x scale they could fit on the 3DS screen nicely.
The issue though is that the width of one "screen" in the game looks to be wider than the 3DS top screen, this image is 480x270, against the 400x240 resolution of the top screen.
It gets more complicated too as there are plenty of bosses and areas where the screen zooms out to show the full detail, which would make the player character appear entirely too small.
Again with a problem that the entire room wouldn't fit on screen using integer scaling.
I'll buy this on Steam instead, because of the Summer Sale.
3DS? Now we're talkin!
A port of this for 3DS would be spectacular especially since Nintendo continue to refused to make a new 2D Metroid in this style.
I hope he ends up doing it because I really wanna get this game
@RupeeClock professional comment poster should be a thing. Great Comment. 10/10.
YES! YES! YEEEEEEEEEES!
I have this on Vita but I would buy it again to have it on my main gaming system! When the Wii U version was announced I was disappointed that there wasn't going to be a 3DS version.
Please bring it to the N3DS!
I've logged more hours into The Binding of Isaac than any other game on my system.
Oh my goodness gracious. Please let this be a reality. I've never finished my PS4 version but got pretty far... Well, what I believe to be really far. Anyway, id get this day one without a doubt. I hope it becomes a reality!
Insta buy on the 3ds!
I'm skeptical, as they struggled to get this game up and running on Vita, but more power to them if they can figure it out for New 3DS. It's worth playing wherever you can get it.
I will buy this! Please make it real.
Be nice too see it on the 3DS.
The game would have to be seriously cut down to fit on the 3DS's screen. Even if it was released, I would recommend any other version over it.
The N3DS version of this game is what I've been waiting for. I already bought it on my PS4, but I haven't played it yet because I've been hoping it would eventually come to the N3DS in stereoscopic 3D.
@SuperWeird Something tells me it won't be in 3d. They're going to need all the power they can get and like Isaac will not do 3d.
