It's been a while since the last Nintendo Direct, and now that E3 is only a couple months away, it doesn't seem likely that Nintendo will be making any major announcements before the big event. Perhaps in lieu of a Nintendo Direct, a video was recently posted called 'Nintendo Spring Partner Preview', and it goes over all the major upcoming releases for the eShop over the next few months.
Hosted by Damon Baker – from the Publisher & Developer Relations division at Nintendo – we get to see a closer look at the development and features of Tumblestone and Axiom Verge, followed by a sizzle reel that showcases a plethora of games that will be coming to either Wii U or 3DS over the spring to summer period. It looks like there's lots to look forward to, and E3 will no doubt pile on even more exciting announcements. Check it out:
What do you think? Which game are you most looking forward to? What games on other platforms do you think would be a good fit for Wii U and/or 3DS? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

Yay for showing off Generations! Hoping that Undertale makes it at some point, thinking about getting it...but hoping for a Wii U version.
Anyone know when the new Retro City Rampage will be on 3DS. I need it!
So many good looking games. Of course Monster Hunter is a must but I could see myself getting quiet a few of those games. If this is the last year for the 3DS (and I don't believe it is) then it's going out with a bang!!
Axion verge with a map - that is a must buy! Why does 3ds get all the cool games?
Fantastic! Fabulous! It's...it’s...FANTABULOUS!
Lots of good stuff. Tumblestone looks great, love puzzle games with online leaderboards.
Other games I plan to get for sure: Corpse Party, MH Generations, Axion Verge.
A number of the other games look cool, but need more than 10 seconds of footage.
And I already beat Super Meat Boy on PC, but that game is awesome. Super hard, but great.
I want that 7th Dragon III Code game. I can't believe they didn't mention Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE.
So Pinball Arcade has returned back to "sometime in the next few years"?
7th Dragon Code, Shantae, Jotun and Lego Star Wars for me!!
Not that I'm bothered, but I noticed no Mighty No.9.
Wow! Glad to know my summer will be filled with playing these awesome games. I'm excited for a ton, but monster hunter is at the top of the list. Absolutely can't wait! I'm holding off on pre ordering because I'm still hoping we get a collectors but we will see. The Axion verge game looks dope, I'll be sure to get that and same goes for corpse party. The puzzle game looks neat but I feel like I will loose attention too fast on that. star fox zero and awakening will surely hold me over until these games come out ^~^
Why is it taking so long to release Soul Axiom? I've been hyped for that game for what seems like forever now...
Is Axiom Verge coming to 3DS or just for Wii U? Will likely pick it up if it's also for 3DS.
Seriously hyped up for Monster Hunter Generations. That's the only game I need right now.
I most likely won't be buying any of these 😑
Axiom Verge is fantastic! I don't know why it took so long but I'm glad it's coming. I feel noitu love will transition better due to not having to click so darn much like I did on PC.
Really looking forward to these games.
@Santoria
I think the 1 single employee thing has something to do wth it taking long
I'm SO stoked for Axiom Verge ... I really hope, that I can play it soon! This game looks and sounds great
@khaosklub Plus the fact that that one single employee didn't exactly seem psyched about it. That Happ guy should maybe go see a doctor.
OK, question time:
(a) Shantae games - I thought they were all pixelated graphics, but this half-genie one doesn't look pixelated at all. Can someone please clarify which of the Shantae games are pixelated and which aren't, and on which platform? I'm yet to buy any Shantae games cos I can't get my head round which is the best choice (I have N3DS and Wii U).
(b) Does anyone know what the track is Nintendo uses for that video? It's got a great summertime feelgood vibe.
Jotun caught my eye in that video, but it nearly all looked interesting. As ever it will be a case of pricing - if games that are already on Steam are coming to Wii U then I need to see some competitive prices.
I thought I read tumbleweed instead of Tumblestone. May as well have. Pretty sad state of affairs on Wii U.
@Moon I think it's just Wii U at the moment. There was talk that the 3DS couldn't handle it which is a little strange.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE More like the dev couldn't handle the 3DS! But that's a shame, thanks for the response.
@MadAdam81 Looks like North America gets Pinball Arcade...tomorrow!

I'll still be waiting in the UK though.
Not many Wiiu but cool 3DS games coming
Those games look promising but I'm still waiting for MOTHER 3 to come out sometime this year.
@spacepirate Expand your gaming horizons. There is more to gaming than just Mario, Zelda and the rest of the 1st party games.
@NewAdvent Don't forget Yooka-Laylee. That's going to arrive very late in the day.
Alright! Looks like I've got a few games to look forward to...first I should probably finish the games I've already started.
I almost bought Axiom Verge on the Vita yesterday but after seeing that and hearing about the Wii U features I am really glad that I held out.
@gcunit Shantae Half-Genie Hero is the first Shantae game to be "un-pixelated" because it is the first developed for consoles aside from the Nintendo DS and 3DS. It started as a Kickstarter project that was announced in September 2013 and then backed in October of the same year. It is being developed for the Wii U, PS4, Xbox One, PS3, 360, Vita, and PC (Though the 360 and PS3 versions will likely be delayed for lack of interest). Outside the latest game, Shantae and the Pirates Curse did get an HD remaster on Wii U that updated the visuals for the overlay cutscene characters, but not the in game characters and sprites or backgrounds. That said the whole series is fun to play through and difficult to recommend one game over another.
Shantae chronology:
Shantae (2002, Game Boy Color, Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console)
Shantae: Risky's Revenge (2010, Nintendo DSi, iOS, PC, PlayStation 4)
Shantae and the Pirate's Curse (2014, Nintendo 3DS, Wii U, PC, Amazon Fire TV, PlayStation 4, Xbox One)
Shantae: Half-Genie Hero (2016, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Wii U, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PC)
@SLIGEACH_EIRE Yeah, I'm pretty excited for Yooka Laylee too. Hopefully they can make their October 2016 target release date.
@Nico07 Thank you so much, young man (if I may assume that from your rather dashing avatar), for providing such detail on the Shantae series. From that, I have concluded that, for now at least, I am best off getting Pirate's Curse on the 3DS (as the 3D I assume it has gives it the edge over the Wii U version, in my ignorant opinion). I am forever indebted to you.
I was hoping there would be North American info — I didn't realize it was an NoA video. Hoping friends in other places get these games in a timely manner as well. Because they look very good to great. Can't wait to buy many of them.
That man has incredibly white hands.
Noitu Love and Ectoplasma intrigue me. But, uh... Is this for America only? What do Europe get then?
Looking forward to playing the new Shantae
@Barbiegurl777
How is any of that junk? It's a new Azure Striker Gunvolt, dude.
@XCWarrior I meant that I'm not interested in these games and if I do buy them, I'd probably play them for maybe an hour and then get bored. That's how I am with a lot of indies. Oh, and by the way, I have played LOTS of other games besides 1st party, like 3rd party, indie, and of course plenty of different genres. But usually I like to invest money into 1st or 3rd party titles that are better quality. I also like PS4 games. You just never know with indies if they're worth it or not
@spacepirate That makes more sense. There are plenty of good indy games though, but I get what you are saying better now. You never know with any game if they will be good or not. Can't even trust Nintendo like you used to. That's why it's best to read 3-5 reviews before you purchase almost anything.
@XCWarrior Yep
