We have to admit we're really looking forward to the Mega Man Legacy Collection which is coming to the 3DS eShop early next year. In addition to offering faithful reproductions of the series' origins with the original six Mega Man games, the game also includes a Challenge Mode, which stitches together various areas and moments from throughout the six classic games and weaves them into new, fast-paced challenges that players can play again and again to improve their times and best their friends' times.
But that's not all, in a recent Capcom Unity blog post, it's been revealed that the 3DS version of Mega Man Legacy Collection will support the Mega Man amiibo, too. Tapping your faithful old Blue Bomber amiibo will allow you to unlock ten additional challenges not present in other versions of the game. These challenges will be ones submitted as part of a competition which you can find out more details about here.
Are you pleased to hear that the 3DS version of the game will support amiibo? Do you think this is a nice little bonus, or should Capcom have gone further? As always, let us know with a comment below.

Well, this is a nice touch... though I don't own the Megaman Amiibo or the Legacy collection nor will I ever own it, I've re-bought Megaman games too much as it is the the amiibo, i can see myself getting it someday(if it remains in stock).
They could do more by bringing the damn game to Wii U (and include said amiibo support).
Megaman has grown to be my fav character in smash and when my gf bought megaman from target I was ecstatic and led to some awesome fun that night in smash
@MegaMari0
Bravo @Splatburst
Well, that is all well and good, and I do have the amiibo but I still feel that I have little reason to be interested in Legacy Collection when I already have the six game via Virtual Console...
This is great. That said, Legacy Collection MUST be in stereoscopic 3D if they expect me to buy it, considering I own the games on GameCube, Wii, Wii U and 3DS- especially 3DS- already.
It's good marketing. If I had the amiibo for smash I would buy the legacy collection even though I'm not a huge fan
@Splatburst
Lol. She used her peach and I used megaman for some funny matches between amiibos.they are dumb as rocks at first.
This is nice, but I've already got the games on virtual console and it still doesn't seem worthwhile to buy them again.
I don't actually own any of the early mega man games so i might pick this up if it's a reasonable price
Guess it's time for me to buy a Mega Man amiibo
Nice. Would buy this for Wii U in a heartbeat.
Quick question Is Nintendo at TGS? Like, are they doing anything there this year? Loads of news on pushsquare but not much on here.
@readyletsgo Hyrule Warriors for 3DS will be there. I don't remember if I've seen anything else.
@Tsuchinoko ah! Now I remember, there was an article on here a few weeks back sayin they will have a stall with a couple games there but no presentation, which is rubbish to me lol. Thanks for jogging the aul memory Tsuchinoko!
@readyletsgo no problem. Yeah the company is in a weird transition period. It would be nice if they had some visibility, but at least they are making an appearance at TGS.
Its going to be very sony and smartphone heavy, but I looked over the scheduled games that are going to have presentations and its really like, hmmm, not sure how to express this. Basically the same three genres of games cover all twenty or so titles I saw. Hyrule Warriors has the Tecmo Koei connection but it still stands out a lot.
The majority of those titles don't really seem to have cross cultural appeal, and I live in Japan and I was still a little surprised by it.
Maybe someone else can look it up and tell me Im not being totally crazy in my observation.
@Tsuchinoko hello Japan! waves
I'm guessing maybe these games are starting to sell a little better to Japanese audience over the past couple years and now they are trying to push them more maybe?
@readyletsgo I guess so. Maybe I'm over thinking it. I was curious as to why I hadn't heard a lot of Nintendos involvement at TGS outside of HW, but I kinda get it now.
Who knows though. Maybe they'll have a surprise announcement that will blow all of those endless anime, dating sims, and Dynasty Warriors and Nobunaga style games away (really thats all there is, oh and one horse racing game).
@polarbear Me too!
+1 for the "there's absolutely no reasonable reason why this shouldn't be on Wii U" team.
I may get it for 3DS, and even own the amiibo, but I don't have a New 3DS or a peripheral to access the feature, nor do I intend to get them.
Meh, guess I'll get the game on PS4 instead.
Nice this gives my Mega Man amiibo more value
This pleases me! I have yet to buy any of the VC games so having them in a set is perfect for me! I like bundles like this, and it doesn't hurt that I have the Mega Man Amiibo too!
I was going to buy this anyway. One more reason I suppose.
Before this announcement popped up, I'd never seen any use for me with having the MegaMan Amiibo, since I barely use the character in Smash. But now that it's compatible in the Legacy Collection, I'll be using him a lot more, which will (hopefully) be awesome!
Great, since I have a Mega Man amiibo already.
oh great! but oh wait,i forgot that one of my friend got the mega-man amiibo so maybe if i got this game, i should ask my friend about borrowing his mega-man amiibo or i should try and get the mega-man amiibo!
This is mega surprising!
Yeah...10 additional chalenges...
Lets just hope these challenges are NOT like the rest of them.
The only amiibo I opened.
Nice. I already own the amiibo, but I'm still not sure if I'll be getting the collection. I'm not really a huge Mega Man fan.
I bought the only Mega Man figure my town had in stock at the time and finally there is a use for him.
Welp I knew I'd regret not picking up his Amiibo sooner as now I gotta track one down... Looking forward to this game though as I don't currently own them on Virtual Console!
This smells! I have no intention of buying an Amiibo just to unlock extra content, which means I probably shan't buy the game, cool as it looks.
Considering I own the Anthology that came out on Gamecube that has Megaman 1-8, as well as the two Power Battles arcade games, I see zero reason to buy this.
Why leave out 7 and 8? Or 9 and 10 for that matter?
It is nice that Megaman is getting more unique support for the system. If I didn't already own the Gamecube version and it was also on the Wii U, I would buy it.
Does that mean the game will also get a PHYSICAL Release ?
@DreamyViridi If you don't have the art book it also contains art and includes a database for all the enemies and what they're weak to.
