It's Monday again, but this week's Nintendo Download Update for Europe has certainly put a spring in our step. Arguably one of the greatest gaming trilogies is available at a ridiculous introductory price, while we have more treats including a top notch Game Boy Advance Castlevania title and a much anticipated budget download sequel. Let's get to the details.
Wii U eShop
Metroid Prime Trilogy (Nintendo, €9.99 / £8.99 until 5th February, then €19.99 / £17.99) - The trilogy of games that established Retro Studios as one of Nintendo's finest developers and defied the odds in re-imagining the Metroid franchise as a first-person adventure. All three entries - two for GameCube, one for Wii - come in this one download, with Wii Remote pointer controls providing precision aiming. An outstanding trilogy at a terrific price, you can read our glowing Metroid Prime Trilogy review if you're still on the fence.
Rock 'N Racing Off Road (EnjoyUp Games, €5.99 / £5.39) - Potentially tapping into the current popularity for real-life toy racing cars, this game offers up top-down racing that brings to mind the classic Super Off-Road. It includes local multiplayer for up to five racers and online leaderboards, and we'll drift around some bends to bring you a review.
Wii U Virtual Console
Castlevania: Circle of the Moon (Konami, €6.99 / £6.29) - It's taken some time, considering the fact the whole Game Boy Advance trilogy was available in North America in time for Halloween 2014, but the first entry of this trilogy finally arrives in Europe. With a 'Metroidvania' approach and RPG elements that allow you to collect new abilities, this is a strong start to the excellent mini-series on GBA - you can learn more about it in our Castlevania: Circle of the Moon review.
Wii U DLC
Hyrule Warriors: Majora's Mask Pack (Nintendo, €6.99 / £6.29 or free with Season Pass) - Contents include:
- A new Adventure Mode map (Termina) with six new 8-bit weapons and sixteen new mask-inspired costumes as rewards
- Two new playable characters (Young Link and Tingle)
- Three new costumes (Skull Kid's Clothes for Lana, and Era of the Hero of Time Outfits for Sheik and Impa)
Wii U eShop Temporary Discount
Cake Ninja 3: The Legend Continues (Cypronia, €3.69 / £3.33 until 5th February, normally €4.99 / £4.49)
Wii U eShop Promotion
Rock 'N Racing Off Road (EnjoyUp Games, €4.99 / £4.49 for users who have already downloaded Abyss, 99Seconds, Unepic, Rock Zombie, 99Moves or Spy Chameleon on the same Wii U)
3DS eShop
Gunman Clive 2 (Horberg Productions, €2.99 / £2.50) - A sequel to the surprise hit of late 2012, this promises to recreate the excellent action platforming but with additions of stylised colour, more set-pieces, bigger bosses and more dynamic stages. We were big fans of the first title and hold high hopes that this will continue its good work; we'll let you know what we think in a review.
3DS Retail Downloads
Best of Board Games (Bigben Interactive, €24.99 / £19.99)
Best of Arcade Games (BigBen Interactive, €24.99 / £19.99)
3DS HOME Themes
[Update: Nintendo of Europe has issued a correction to its original download update details, advising that the NES Sword-swinging Link and NES Samus Aran themes will no longer arrive this week, but will be releasing very soon.]
NES Balloon Fighter (Nintendo, €1.99 / £1.79) - Available from 30th January
NES Fire Mario (Nintendo, €1.99 / £1.79) - Available from 30th January

Dang the prime trilogy is really cheap!
Metroid Prime Trilogy and Gunman Clive 2 are my picks this week.
Prime trilogy and GBAvania trilogy? YES YES YES!!!
Castlevania, Prime Trilogy and of course the Majora's Mask Pack, since I own the Season Pass
CASTLEVANIA!!!! OH GTFI......ahem Yay good week all round
Circle of the Moon for me as I've got MPT on disc.
That Prime Trilogy intro price is ludicrous, I've got it on disc but am tempted regardless. Happy days!
Oh, and Gunman Clive 2 the second it's available, I really enjoyed the first one.
Samus Aran theme, since i have metroid prime trilogy on disk
Can Metroid be played with the game pad or pro, instead of the wii mote ?
The metroid prime trilogy deal is amazing, I've yet to play any of the 3D metroid. Needless to say that's a must have for me. Also Nintendo told us you could use the gamepad for some wii games, can we already use it with this game?
@Robin_Aisaga I can't remember whether Trilogy supports the Classic Controller (and therefore the GamePad), but these games simply must be played with the Wii Remote and Pointer. I think that's an actual law.
Another great game ruined by wiimote!
I've got metroid on disc and I can't say the wii mote versions are an improvement lets hope for gamepad or pro controller support! Please!
Just need Metroid - zero mission to come out on the virtual console and you'll be able to play every metroid game on the Wii U (bar metroid 2 which is on 3ds VC)
Metroid Prime Trilogy for sure, trying to find the boxed version at a decent price online nowadays is hard
Actually looking at the direct and the retail versions, no gamepad or pro support on metroid, but pandoras tower and sin & punishment used a controller so these should use gamepad and pro!
Since I already own Metroid Trilogy on disc, i'm picking Majora's Mask DLC. Pretty good week
Metroid Prime Trilogy and Majora's Mask DLC, I already have the disc but for £9 it's well worth having a digital backup. Never been particularly interested in Castlevania but I guess this pretty much confirms the next few weeks to be the remaining GBA titles so another reason for NoA to hurry up and release the DKC trilogy.
Metroid Trilogy and Gunman Clive 2 are the best for this week.
Metroid Prime AND Circle of the Moon!
I own the trilogy on disc, so Gunman Clive 2 for me this week. It's gonna be great.
How many times can I vote for Metroid Prime Trilogy? The Hyrule Warriors DLC is already paid for, just have to download it.
Some questions from a digital noob: I'm gonna download both Metroid (heard is about 8GB) and the Hyrule dlc + update at a friend's house. Does the console download and install things even when it's off? In that case, I should just start the downloads and turn it off, leaving the console doing its job during the night?
I've got the Hyrule Warriors season pass, and I'll get Gunman Clive 2 the second it's released. I bought the Metroid Prime Trilogy recently on disk for £30. XD The same thing happened when I bought Super Metroid on the Wii VC and it was 30p on the Wii U two weeks later.
@andreoni79 I think so. When the light on the console is orange that means it's still on and possibly downloading (and/or installing)
Surely there can be no complaints about what's on offer this week?Metroid Trilogy is as 'refresh the eshop page until it appears' as you can get.I don't even plan on playing it for a while too but I will feel great joy just having it on my system haha.I'm interested to see how Rock 'N Racing turns out but I'll wait for the review first.Got a feeling it won't be as fun as the classics it's inspired by,hopefully I am wrong.
Do the Wii VC games have save states? Like all other VC games? Also there should be the option to select multiple answers on the poll as I'm downloading more than one game.
A lot of tempting stuffs, but I think I'll buy nothing this week; only because I have Trilogy on disc obviously, else that would be simply a must buy for such price!
I own the three Wii games they are releasing. However I am tempted to download them just so I don't have to go through the extra step of going to the Wii menu on the Wii U console.
Or getting up to put the disk in. I'm lazy.
I hope this is not the last week of the Wii games being released at the reduced price?Was hoping to get Punch Out also whenever it comes but I can't see me paying £17.99 for it.
I feel like complaining that the pricing should be higher for the Prime Trilogy.... I mean, you're getting 3 whole games there and to think I spent around $70 on the Prime Trilogy in 2013...
Anyway, at least others can finally enjoy this amazing trilogy at a good price.
I, too, have tried to find Trilogy cheap. But have failed and then not bought it since some other games came and so on.. I do have the first Prime for GB, bought it for 5e I think two years (as new - I got F-Zero GX and Prime for 10e together)
Sold my disk version of the metroid prime trilogy as soon as I heard it's gonna be for sale for 10. Will be rebuying the digital version now. So I'm making some profit this week
Any info on if/how the Friend Vouchers work in this version of Trilogy? I never got around to unlocking all the extras so I'm wondering if I could do it with this downloadable version.
I still haven't finished the stuff that came with the main game in Hyrule Warriors (I'm only 106 hours in) let alone the already-released DLC. But since I got the "season pass" (ergh at that term), I'll end up with them all anyway.
Good job it's the best game ever.
@Tsurii897 So the same as all the other VC games then. And they're in the VC section on the eShop.
@andreoni79 if you start to download then switch off the system and unplug it the download data becomes corrupted and has to deleted and re-downloaded (I know this because I did it once)
you can do standby downloads but you can't turn it off
Metroid Prime Trilogy (so mutch so iv not been able to play enithing since its annoncement all I can think of it play it lol) dont need to intentionly d load The HW DLC as i got the season pass so itl go automaticly I might be tempted with the CV game thogh as i do like CV amd never got the chance to buy the GBA games.
If only I waited a two more years instead of paying 70!
@whodatninja @Fullbringlchigo Thanks! That means I can leave the console in standby at his house and the next day everything will be ok, right? I know I can't unplug it, but I wasn't sure about the meaning of that orange light that I see sometimes when my console is in standby: WiiU not only looks for updates, but it can download too then...
What I'm now interested in is the file size of Trilogy, Galxay 2 was less than 2GB, while Punch-Out was a higher than expected 4.5GB, given the large file sizes of the two DKC games for download (For the systems they're on, 2GB for Return 3D and 11GB for Tropical Freeze are huge), i dread the thought of the combined size of 3, very packed games.
It's all about that Tril. What a bargain too. Anyone know the file size?
@andreoni79 The orange light is just to let you know something is either downloading or updating.It's no problem to have your Wii U in standby mode when downloading but it does seem to take longer than it would if it was turned on.I know this because I have had to download certain games several times due to getting a 'data corrupted' error which I think is down to my wifi momentarily dropping.You'll know your download has finished when the light turns red again.
@DBailey @PaperLucario I just searched for the PAL ISO file and it comes in at 7.93GB,so not too bad.That's assuming the eshop downloads are the same of course.
hyrule warriors dlc is coming in anyway as I ordered the full package a while back - like many, I imagine.
Anyway, I'm awaiting trilogy because that is just a lot of gaming for 10 euro's
They don't like doing 3DS Virtual Console anymore, do they?
All the rippoffs on eBay coming unstuck on metroid at that price
I really don't get why Lana of all people gets to be the skullkid rom MM ... really strange if you ask me.
Even though I spent either £40 or £50 on a new copy of the Prime Trilogy, I can't get rid of my physical copy of it, ever. It's too precious of a treasure. I just wish I didn't sell the physical copies of the original releases when I got the Trilogy. :/
To those of you downloading the Metroid Prime Trilogy, happy gaming. I'm one of the lucky few who got a copy on disc a few years back.
I have £5.00 of e-Shop credit, so I'm getting the Prime Trilogy at an even lower price - gotta be one of the bargains of the last 5 years right there. I actually went to buy the disc release just before Xmas but couldn't find it any cheaper than about £40 so I'm glad I held off now!
Finally! About freakin' time we got Circle of the Moon. Hopefully they follow up with HoD and AoS. Still a bit annoyed we had to wait this long AND missed out on other games such as Mario Kart Super Circuit, Super Mario Advance 1 & 2 (though at least there's already SMW on VC) as well as Megaman Battle Network 2, so I kinda hope Nintendo makes up for lost time.
I was fortunate enough to get Metroid Trilogy on disc when I bought my Wii a few years back, but good to see others getting a chance who may otherwise have missed out.
Got the physical copy but will buy it anyway as price and having a digital copy is just too tempting to pass up.
That Metroid prime deal is so good even thou i have physical copy of that, maybe i buy that anyway so Nintendo would think "ou Metroid sold that good maybe we should make new a metroid game"
Played all three but never bought the Trilogy.
£9 too?
Still can't believe it.
Just need Metroid - zero mission to come out on the virtual console and you'll be able to play every metroid game on the Wii U (bar metroid 2 which is on 3ds VC)
What about Metroid Prime HUnters and Metroid Prime Pinball?
I hope a lot of people buy Metroid to show Nintendo their support for the franchise! I would buy it too, but I already own the disc version. But if anyone is hesitating on buying it, don't be. These games are the best games on the Gamecube and Wii. Prime 1 is one of my favorite games of all time.
Gunman Clive 2 & Metroid Prime Trilogy. Sold my disc trilogy a while back to raise money
I used to have the Prime Trilogy, but I traded it years back, good collection though.
I'm mainly waiting for the next SEGA 3D classic on 3DS, and yes whats happened to 3DS VC, its pretty quiet.
I really like the idea of getting Metroid, but not if you've GOT to use the Wiimote. Can anybody confirm that you must play with the Wiimote? Because that kills any game for me.
Other than that, maybe pick up Gunman Clive 2, but no rush. Are there really NO discounts on the 3DS eShop? 3DS seems to be drying up. Nothing for me this week.
@OorWullie Thank you. That ain't too bad. Would love it if Nintendo ever manage to split the games up and have them each downloadable.
One can dream.
Metroid Trilogy, and i get Hyrule Warriors DLC for "free" as i own the season pass.
@617Sqn @Moon
You need the Wiimote, but trust me when I say you want to play with the Wiimote. Quite possibly the most natural and accurate control setup ever devised. Once you try it and see how superior it is to the GameCube controls, you'll know what I'm talking about.
The MPT, Castlevanias,Gunman Clive 2 and Hyrule Warriors DLC makes this week fantastic for Europe!
BTW I found the pointer controls on the Metroid Prime games very enjoyable.
Its a pity I no longer have my Wiimote as I may have bought Metroid Prime Trilogy. However, I won't be buying any controllers just to play these games.
Prime Trilogy for sure, as apart from playing a bit of the Gamecube original, this series passed me by somehow at the time and for that first week price, it'd be rude not to! My only concern now is with the download size! Hope that I have enough space on my Wii U!
Will also be picking up Gunman Clive 2. I really liked the original and for £2.50, I'll definitely be getting hold of the sequel!
Even if you already own MP trilogy on disc you gotta buy it for such a low price. Best trilogy ever.
Haven't played Metroid since the SNES, so it seems I've something to look forward to
@Moon I guarante you, Metroid Prime 3 is AMAZING with the Wiimote! You have more precision with motion controls.
That feel when you paid over $40 for Metroid Prime Trilogy (better than $60).
@Moon It's unfortunate you can only use the Wiimote. It appears quite a lot of people enjoyed the control scheme, but to me it was wild and unwieldy, the hitbox too small to properly relax while playing. It's a complete hassle to do anything with it.
Oh look, the castlevania games are going to the European VC now.... I wonder what they will argue with now on how NA is better....
Just 60% of the vote for Metroid Prime Trilogy shocking i tell ya.
I had the good sense to buy Metroid Prime Trilogy on disc the first time around, so I don't need to buy it again.....anyone who didn't should snap it up at that price though.
I'll take Castlevania Circle Of The Moon and the Hyrule Warriors DLC I've already paid for this week I think, along with possibly Gunman Clive 2 on 3DS.
Since I already have MP: Trilogy, Gunman Clive 2 is my vote and I will have it beaten before friday
Must have: Metroid Prime Trilogy
Maybe one of the others will come to my system too, but first I must have the Trilogy for this very nice price!
"Rock 'n Racing Off Road".
I wonder if that was meant to confuse people for Rock 'n Roll Racing.
A game that's probably not going to come because it uses licensed music (and I don't think Blizzard is going to bother with VC for the couple games they could release).
@ikki5
With us getting the Castlevania GBA trilogy and Europe getting the DKC trilogy, I considered us all quite equal.
Metroid Prime Trilogy for me and I really hope I can play it on my TV since it has a problem with the colors. Thank goodness for the Gamepad as a secondary option.
@burninmylight
I did pretty much also until you guys got Fire Emblem and Golden Sun 2.... What I found odd is how people were adamant so much simply because they didn't have demon crest (which has a very low percentage in the poll and Castlesvania... now you have that and are getting the trilogy so it is all the arguing blocks from these others. lol But then we got Fire Emblem which made me happy but we still don't have Golden Sun 2 sadly I also hope we start to see the DK trilogy come here soon as well.... maybe this week but I don't want to get my hopes up just to be crushed.
Apparently America gets Shadow of the Ninja this week.
Gunman Clive saving Nintendo's butt this week. Where's 3D Outrun and Shantae??!!!
Also, what does anyone think of 3D versions of some lesser-known arcade games such as Golden Axe 3? Any other titles you'd like to see?
3 Metroid Prime games for £8.99? that's incredible! I'm tempted to get a wii-mote for this alone!
I've been trying to get my hands on Metroid Prime Trilogy for ages now! I can't wait to finally play it!
Metroid would be a no brainer if I didn't already have 'em all.
If the report was correct, then we should be getting Gunman Clive 2 this Thursday in NA. At that price too? I can't wait. I just hope the rest of Thursday's line up is decent.
That one vote for Balloon Fight theme
Still have all the original discs for each game in the Metroid Prime Trilogy, and I can't imagine having the time to play them all again anytime in the distant future (what with Monster Hunter 4 coming out soon, and my already large backlog of unbeaten games and games I need to revisit). So sadly I will let the ridiculous price pass me by. (I'm in NA and did pick up Punch Out!! since I missed that one when it came out).
Still, the MP games are all phenomenal, and I hope a lot of folks that missed out the first time through get to enjoy them.
I also want to lend my support to more retro themes and more themes that are not Mario-based.
Metroid Prime Trilogy for me!
If I only had a WiiU.
So for me, Gunman Clive 2! Finally
Prime and Clive, whoop whoop.
Gun Man Clive 2 !!!!!
Wonderful Metroid Prime Trilogy for €10, now give us Super Mario All Stars!!
Yes, the gunman returns. Loved the first one.
Oh lord, I own all three Prime games separately AND the trilogy. And I still feel like I should get this.
This is probably one of those stupid basic questions you see people asking on YouTube all the time, but are the controls still the wiimote (get mad) and nunchuck? Not remade for gamepad?
I quit when I saw "pointer controls" in Metroid Prime description. Seriously. Why not simply put it on GamePad? You could just use ZR/ZL for nunchuck action commands on MP3. Both 1 and 2 worked flawlessly on GC controller, then New Play Control mechanics just ruined it.
TLTR: I'll pass.
Didn't get on with Metroid Trilogy on Wii, and I'm getting Grim Fandango Remastered cross-buy on Playstation so Gunman Clive will remain on my wish list.
@Pod Haha me, too.
I own all 3 and trilogy disc and I'm sitting here thinking about buying it. I have to check for scratches, but I think that trilogy disc I have is pristine. I did buy Galaxy 2 because the music plays back all glitched sometimes due to scratches.
@Moon @xMetrusx @rushlosan
IMO, you are seriously missing out if you don't use the wii remote aiming. You just keep your wrist on your knee and get 10x the precision and interactivity than slowly drifting analog stick aiming and locking only. If you haven't given it a try you really should. It's especially cool in Metroid Prime 3 as there are more interesting uses of motion controls.
The thing to remember is that they don't diminish the sort of core gaming experiences these games are in the least. The challenge is roughly the same but it's much more fluid with pointing. You can still lock and strafe and all that, but then you can aim with out spamming the lock button to get to the correct target like I often had to do in the GameCube versions.
In Metroid Prime 3 I wished they'd have been able to get Motion Plus support to make some of the levers and switches a little less twitchy though. There's only a few of those in the whole game though and they aren't during intense gameplay or anything.
YMMV of course
@Hero-of-WiiU It's not going to be easy to play just on the Gamepad with the pointer controls,
I own all three Metroid Primes on disc but I'm definitely getting this so I can play them directly from my Wii U. My favourite games of all time. Weird question: Was the first two MPs on the trilogy disc playable with Gamecube controllers as well? Would they work with the Gamecube adapter?
The thought of Metroid Prime with Gamepad and Pro Controller support though... That would have been so good. I would love for Nintendo to include Pro controller support in these Wii games. There's no reason why a game like Donkey Kong shouldn't be controllable with a Pro Controller or the Gamepad.
...gotta wait three more days...
@JaxonH Agreed. I've played through Prime 1 on GCN, and Prime 1 in the trilogy, and Prime 1 from the trilogy is VASTLY superior. Word to the wise for people who are first playing through Prime 1, use a guide if you have to. Please PLEASE don't be afraid to use an online guide to help you out. Just make sure you finish the game, it's phenomenal. I admit that I also had to use a guide, but it was soooo worth it. The game is amazing.
Has anyone experienced any problems with playing Metroid Prime Trilogy off of an external hard drive?
This eShop update, so far, is the best of 2015. I mean, Gunman Clive 2 on portables, and Metroid Prime Trilogy for 10€ (meaning 3,3€ for each Metroid Prime game) on WiiU, on the same day?!
Wow, this time around Nintendo pulled a Microsoft with the price-to-quality ratio, this actually looks like an Xbox discount. I call this thursday the "no-brainer thursday".
Nintendo systems are quality as are there games but there's arguably too much focus now on nintendo product with the Wii U, it's understandable of course but the lack of alternative choice in whats available is becoming more and more evident. That choice that was there with the original Wii is missing with the Wii U, the selection of alternative systems and games in the virtual console is gone even the virtual arcade has been all but forgotten about, Nintendo's idea of expanding on the retro virtual console experience was to discard every non nintendo console and add the GBA . Limiting the amount of choice is a bad thing and it's hurt the Wii U virtual console, over 2 years in and it's still mainly a diet of nes, snes and gba, as good as those systems and there games are it's become somewhat predictable, surely more systems need to be added, Nintendo or otherwise.
@Game-Over thank you!! Been saying this for almost 2 years now!! Neo Geo? N64? C64? Master system? Genesis? VIRTUAL CONSOLE ARCADE??? Sega are you listening?? taito/square? Warner/midway? Atari?? I thought the wii u vc was gonna blow wii vc outta the water! How wrong I was about that!! It's terrible!! NOA in particular is the worst of the 3 regions!!! Ugh!!
Back on topic I'll download MP trilogy and keep my factory sealed copy along with Other M in the vault! 😜👍
@NinjaWaddleDee
Ya, people are really cheating themselves if they're gonna skip the game with the best motion controls ever designed, simply because it's motion. This isn't some waggle game where you shake the Wiimote to shoot, and shouldn't be judged as such. These are refined, advanced level motion controls, where all it takes is the ever so slightest wrist movements as opposed to your thumb for aiming, turnig and looking up/down. And you get full customization options for the imaginary box which serves as threshold between aim and turn. You can do SO much more than with those wonky GameCube controls. I don't know how I ever managed to play the first two on Gamecube- after Metroid Prime 3 the GameCube controls of the first two seemed to be, well, just flat out garbage.
I beat all 3 without any guide or online tip, and I tell ya what it's a heck of an experience doing it that way if you can manage. Of course, I backtracked through areas dozens of times looking for any secrets I may have missed- every time I'd get a new ability I'd scour the map. Although a guide might come in handy for my upcoming playthrough, at least for some of the harder sections of the game.
@joey302
Factory sealed? Very nicely done! I have two mint copies with the steel case but never did manage to get sealed. Too rich for my blood. Maybe I'll sell one to help cover the costs of buying new.
So, does this mean there are no reports of the Trilogy crashing when playing off an external hard drive?
@OorWullie Thanks!
I cannot wait to replay MP 1 & 2 with the wiimote since I missed Trilogy, and I hope Nintendo will put on the eShop some of the New Play Controls Wii games like Pikmin 1 & 2 and Donkey Kong Jungle Beat. I bet many new players would love them.
Nothing for me this week. I would have defo picked up the Metroid Trilogy but I already own the disc.
@JaxonH funny thing is trilogy is sealed in the metal case and was $20 I found in toys r us discount bin....other M I got for $10 new at target!! Guess I was lucky with trilogy😃
@joey302
Very lucky. Ya know, back when the Trilogy released I was in a phase where I wasn't really into gaming, didn't go to fan sites, didn't know what games were releasing when, none of that. I actually remember seeing it in Wal-Mart- they had an entire row of them on display. I just remember thinking "Oh that's cool, they released a trilogy" and kept on walking. I'd already played all 3 of them, but besides them and Zelda Twilight Princess that was the only games I'd played in many years.
Once I got back into gaming and learned of it's rarity, I regretted not buying a copy when I had the chance. Oh well, got one now so...
@JaxonH lol worst thing my parents ever did to me was bring us home an Atari 2600 back in 1977! Plugged in space invaders & asteroids and I was a junkie from age 11 to current age of 48. Mom threw out a least a dozen Atari games unbeknownst to me years later when I also learned how certain games can increase in value!! The boys at gamestop always trying to get me to trade poopitypoop in but I don't budge! My collection now exceeds 6,000 games and being that I work 12 hours a day running my own business all my life I would say close to 50% are factory sealed!! I figured also not having a pension, which is one drawback to owning a business, one day the sale of my collection will sustain me as I ride into the sunset!💵💰💰💵👍
@joey302
6,000 games. You're in the big-leagues! Makes me look like a small-timer lol.
I probably only have about 300 physical games- a solid collection for GameCube, Wii, Wii U, DS and 3DS, with Vita, PS4 and Xbox One as well. But it's a good collection- every single game I own is a top-tier release in mint condition- I don't buy games unless they're the best of the best or something I'm genuinely interested in. So it's only 300 games, but 300 excellent games, all complete in case with manuals and in near-perfect condition. It's a collection I'm very proud of, even if it is just a small portion of what you and others boast.
But I've only been collecting for 2 years as well. I literally had no games just 2 years ago, so I guess I'm doing pretty good. Got completely caught up on the best of Nintendo's 6th and 7th gen console and handheld libraries- no small feat while trying to ALSO keep up with current releases across all 5 platforms.
@JaxonH dude 300 games pretty damn good for just 2 years- that's about 3 games a week!!. It's true I do have and buy a lot of games that I wouldn't be interested in playing or I know just plain suck...so gaming wise I play what I enjoy and try something new here n there. You never know....example: I tried dead space and now I love it so u just don't know. But I buy em with dual mentality playing em and/or collecting em! The thing is collecting wise you NEVER know what will skyrocket In value as time goes on so if I can grab em cheap (10-20 bucks) I do and sit on them. Key is I wait until the price goes down. Then Every once in while I browse eBay to see what's what and sometimes I fall out of my chair when I see an Atari game for $800 I own or klonoa for ps one for $1500!! You just never know! I do score a lot of cheap games on eBay as well. Just got Lego batman 3 for ps4 for $20 while in the store still $50. All this while I juggle a business a wife n 2 kids one in basketball/baseball and my daughter in various dance lessons!! Lol I NEVER have time to play till after they all go to bed lmao!!
But you have a nice collection bro - just keep building on it and look for the sales and DONT trade any in to those crooks at gamestop lol!! Someday you can cash in on them if god forbid you needed the $$$
@joey302
No lol, never trade in a game. Last time I tried that was with Sonic Racing Transformed. I loved it so much on Wii u I bought the 3DS version, unfortunately it was just a crap version. Thought I'd trade it in to help pay for Vita version, and they only offered me $10 ($11 with PUR, yippie!) just days after it released. I said no thanks, I'll just keep it, and bought the Vita version anyways. After that, I said no more trade ins, even for crap games.
I signed up for Gamers Club Unlocked at Best Buy- so I get 20% off all new games purchased plus about $5 back for every $70 spent through various credit card point bonuses and the like, so that's how I buy most of my games. Although when I was trying to catch up on the backlog collection, I spent a couple thousand dollars on eBay and Amazon. I'd snipe auctions for GameCube games and DS games and Wii games and all that good stuff. I remember getting Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn and the disc was all scratched, so I returned it and bought another used copy on eBay, and it was all scratched up too (despite like new listings). Finally I broke down and bought the game sealed brand-new for 100 bucks. I learned my lesson that it's better to pay more for what you want sometimes than trying to save a few dollars and risking not getting what you're looking for
@JaxonH yea I mean you do have to be careful on eBay so I do only buy them new sealed and I check the sellers ratings feedback and history. Plus now that I'm doing it on eBay 20 years I have a good 2 dozen reliable sellers that I buy from who have yet to disappoint me thus far. Some games though you have no choice but to pay top dollar for if you want it factory sealed! "Like new" condition to the seller could be "are you kidding me" to the buyer! Lol I mean you don't have to be a rocket scientist to recognize mint condition but even today on eBay people still lie to unload. I also never bother if a true pic is not posted on the item as well. eBay has gotten waaayyy better though over the years! Yes amazon another place to get great prices for factory sealed games and I've scored plenty of deals at target and best buy and toys r us as well over the years lol!! 😜
Another week, another "Where the hecks is the 3DS GBA VC?" line-up.
It's nice how things that were amazing for handheld consoles are not staying with handheld consoles. I would pay a handsome sum for Castlevania: Circle of the Moon for 3Ds. And I believe someone mentioned a desire for a DKC trilogy release. I had Donkey Kong Land, and I think that trilogy was fantastic. Again, able and willing to go forth and re-buy all of my favorites from long ago....
For some reason my nintendo eshop hasn't updated yet...and I live in the UK!
I would like to get me some Metroid Prime Trilogy if it could be at least present!
